Inspire, Engage, Empower!
Guided Reading
Students and staff are loving this time of the day. Some call it "Swoop Time", others call it "Small Group" and then of course "Guided Reading." No matter the name they use, they are receiving small group instruction differentiated to meet their needs at their instructional level on a daily basis. In as short as two weeks, we are already seeing students make academic gains.
This background picture is a guided reading group and the students and teachers faces show the impact is is making every day!
Help your child to have a GROWTH mindset for learning.
Collaborative Partners
We appreciate your support and couldn't do this without you! We are a team, we are collaborative partners in your child's education. With that being said, we do need your help in a few matters that are becoming issues at school and outside of school on devices.
We are noticing more and more students bringing items from home into school with them. One of these things is stuffed animals. Please speak with your child(ren) about the importance of leaving distractions at home. If students are needing items of support, we would be more than happy to provide those items for the students. If we do not have the items needed, we will reach out to you for help.
With winter quickly approaching and the chance of virtual learning happening soon, students have been learning about the app called Microsoft Teams. Students will use the Teams app to connect with teachers on a virtual learning day. By connecting to Teams, your child will be receiving live instruction from their classroom teacher. Together, students and teachers have worked hard to create a list of expectations to follow while a live meeting is taking place. Please ask your child what their classroom's expectations are. If your student is not able to tell you, reach out to your child's teacher and ask them for a list of the expectations. While Teams is a great resource for teachers and students to use to communicate, students also have the ability to communicate via calling or chatting with other students in the district. Students have been instructed that they are to ONLY use Teams to communicate with teachers. Students are not to call or chat with other students on Teams. However, we are finding many students still utilizing Teams to socialize with friends. Please help us oversee your child’s use of their device at home, including the Teams app. If you have any questions regarding any of the matters above, please contact Mrs. Leasure. Thank you for the support in the growth of your child's education.

Counseling Corner with Mrs. Hardin
Our focus area for the month of October is "bullying." Students will learn what bullying is and what it is not, how it makes people feel and how they can stand up to bullying. Lessons will be grade level appropriate. Here is a link to a great website that explains bullying, if you would like to discuss it further with your child(ren), https://www.stopbullying.gov/bullying/what-is-bullying.
I am also available to support students with other needs. Please reach out if you have any concerns for your child's social and emotional needs. If you have any questions at all, please don't hesitate to contact me by phone (260) 347-1354 or e-mail at mhardin@eastnoble.net.
I am here to help!
The example of the four Zones and emotions that would fall under each color are below. We started learning about these in September. Please feel free to use these at home to help your children identify their feelings and work through their emotions.
In Tune with Attendance and Safety with Mr. Perlich
Attendance –
Attendance is an important part of your child’s education. Being present at school each day and on time helps them achieve to their full potential. We understand that students get sick and need to miss school on occasion. Try to schedule appointments and vacations during our breaks throughout the school year. If your child is seen by a doctor, please send in a signed doctor slip the next day they return. Having your child at school on time is important as well. This allows them to get the breakfast they need if they are eating in our café, and it helps them to not miss important information at the beginning of the day in their classroom.
- If your child is out with Covid, please send in the test results.
- If your child is out with an illness, please send in a doctor’s note when they return.
- Communicate with the office if your child will not be at school for any reason!
Safety –
In September, our bus riders participated in the required bus evacuation that takes place in the fall and spring. Our bus riders did a great job and learned what to do in case of an emergency while riding the bus. October will be a busy month for drills! Below are the drills that will be happening in the upcoming month.
- Fire drill
- Tornado drill
- Earthquake drill
- Relocation drill
As you can tell by looking at the list, safety is an important part of preparing our students and staff in case of an emergency. Talking to your students about safety will help them be prepared for an actual emergency. Stress to them not to panic and react to each situation with confidence and calmness.
If you should have any questions regarding attendance or safety, please contact me at the school or by email at jperlich@eastnoble.net. I am looking forward to a great year!
The Nurses Nook
I hope this school year is finding you well! 😊 With cold and flu season approaching, please remind your child to wash their hands and cover those coughs and sneezes!! I always tell the kids, “sharing is caring, unless it’s your germs! Keep those guys to yourself!!” 😉
Upcoming clinics:
- “School Smiles,” the in-school dentist, will be at North Side Elementary on Tuesday, October 11, 2022. They provide dental exams and restorative care to your child right at school! Your child will not be seen by the dentist unless I have a signed consent form. You can register online at www.schoolsmiles.com/student-signup. Or, if you would like form sent home with your child please contact me at 260-347-1354 or waumsbaugh@eastnoble.net.
- The annual Flu vaccination clinic will be held at North Side on October 11, 2022. Every fall the Noble County Health Department comes to all ENSC schools and provides flu vaccinations. Children WILL NEVER receive any vaccine without parental consent. Forms have been sent home, if you did not get one and would like one, please contact me 😊
Friendly reminders:
- Your child must be fever-free, without fever-reducing medication, for 24 hours before returning to school. The same applies to vomiting and diarrhea.
- Please send a change of clothes in your child’s backpack for those occasional accidents or spills. I will do my best to provide your child with a change of clothes, but if I do not have the appropriate size, I will have to call home and ask for a change of clothes.
- With the changing temperatures, please make sure your child is dressed appropriately for the weather. It may be a good idea to keep a jacket in their backpack. (Note – it is suggested to write your child’s name in their jacket incase it gets misplaced).
- If your child does not have a coat, and you cannot afford to buy them one, PLEASE, let me know!! I will do everything I can to get them a coat, hat and gloves!!
