E.H.S Journey
April 2024
Dear Parents/Guardian:
Happy Spring! As we begin to enter our Ohio State Testing season, please be aware of the changes in the daily schedule. The testing dates are listed below along with the daily schedule. It is very important that your child come to school on time for their scheduled tests. Teachers have been supporting their learning and have prepared them to maximize the opportunity. Please make sure they receive adequate sleep and encourage them to eat breakfast. As always, thank you for your partnership in education.

Counselor's Corner
- The deadline to submit a College Credit Plus application is April 15th. Please have your student bring their application to their school counselor.
- All letters from the Lorain County JVS regarding admission for the 2024-2025 school year should be mailed by April 1st. If you have any questions about the JVS, please contact Donovan Belizaire at belizairedonovan@elyriaschools.org or 440-284-5237.
- Summer school information will be available in April. All information will be sent to parents/guardians and registration will require payment.
- The scheduling portal in Power School for the 2024-2025 school year is now closed. Should your student need to request a change, they should speak with their school counselor. Please ensure all requests for early release/late arrival (current 10th and 11th graders only) are in Power School.
- Starting next school year, schedule change requests will only be granted for the following reasons: a course is no longer being offered, a student took a course over the summer and does not need it on their schedule, a student has a course on their schedule for which they have already earned credit, academic misplacement, a class is missing from the student's schedule.
- The last blood drive of the year at EHS is on May 3rd. Any student over 16 is able to donate (16-year-olds with a permission slip) and the amount of blood donated directly correlates to the amount of scholarship money that Vitalant offers our seniors. There are always incentives for donating, such as gift cards and t-shirts!!
- State testing will begin in April. This can be a stressful time for students, as many of these tests have a big impact on their future. EHS counselor Elizabeth Holland has compiled some tips for text anxiety which can be found here.
