November Fun and December News Ahead
We hope you had a wonderful November and a Happy Thanksgiving!
Arrival and Dismissal
It is important to bring your child to school on time. Drop-off begins at 8:15 am and your child is busy from the moment they arrive. Please make it a goal to bring your child to school by 8:30.
Dismissal procedures are safest when they are consistent. Therefore, if you requested a bus for your child, they should be using this service regularly. If you need to make a change to your child's dismissal, the office must be notified no later than 12:00 pm that day. Send a note or email your child's teacher and include the school secretary, jessica.godoy@msdk12.net or call 973-292-2222 ext. 1100.
HSA Craft Night
Families and students had fun at our HSA Craft Night. They made Thanksgiving placemats and then enjoyed some play time in the gym! See below more important dates and events to mark on your calendar!
Clothing Drive
As a culminating activity for the Clothing Study, our 4-year-old classrooms are leading the school in a clothing drive. Help Others Mission is the organization that will receive the donations. The truck will arrive on December 9th to pick up the items and teachers will take students outside to drop off the items. Educating children about charity and the importance of helping others at a young age helps shape them into compassionate individuals. Here is the link: Clothing Drive Flyer

Flu Shots
Proof of the seasonal flu vaccine for children under 5 is due BEFORE winter break. Transportation will be discontinued for 1/2/23 without proper documentation. Please submit to carol.fleming@msdk12.net or send a copy in your child's bookbag.
National Handwashing Week December 4-10
Hand-washing is one of the simplest and least expensive ways to prevent illness and the spread of infections. (American College of Pediatricians) The T-zone — eyes, nose and mouth — is the main portal of entry for viral infections such as influenza, colds and pneumonia, as well as bacterial infections including strep throat, or tonsillitis.

Winter weather is here!
Our students are outside daily unless the temperatures are extreme, if there is heavy precipitation, or if there is a weather warning. Therefore, your child should have what he or she needs to be outdoors. This includes sneakers to run in and winter gear such as a hat and gloves. Thanks!
Planting Garlic
Students took a walk over to the farm this month to plant some garlic. Farmer Shaun and his crew taught the students about agriculture.
Where are you from?
From our Community Parent Involvement Specialist, Blake Faison:
Thank you, everyone, for sending back the form about where your child’s family is from! Little by little we are creating our World Map Board to give us a visual on just how DIVERSE our community is. This is a work in progress so keep those forms coming in!
Ready Rosie
Ready Rosie is our active family engagement system and we hope you are enjoying the playlists! Running around town with your child can offer lots of learning opportunities. Here are my recommendations to encourage your child to think, move, and learn!
Watch the Road! The next time you find yourself stuck in traffic, take a moment to talk about road features like lanes, dividers, curbs, signs, and lights. How do drivers use these to stay safe?
I Spy a Coin While waiting to pay for an item, grab a few coins and ask your child to describe what they see. Talk about what the different colors, sizes, and images mean!
International Day of Persons with Disabilities – December 3, 2022
U.S. International Day of Persons with Disabilities on December 3 is a day to help everyone become more compassionate and understanding of the challenges faced by people with disabilities. For more information on this important day, click the Link
