1) Internet Safety
What is Internet Safety?
Students must understand that using the internet can be dangerous. Students should protect themselves, and respect others when using the internet. Students should remember to never be careless when using online talk features, or internet chat rooms Also students should always keep in mind that you can leave a digital footprint when you are online.
Louisiana Believes
According to the Louisiana Believes Digital Literacy goals, students are required to understand their school's policy regarding its use of computers when accessing the internet. Also, online safety is import because it will protect the student and the school.
2) In my classroom
Creating an environment when understanding the importance of being a good digital citizen is important. Being a good digital citizen and signing a contract for students to understand their responsibilities is key. This is the starting point for students when using the internet.
In my current classroom, each student had to sign a "being a responsible Digital Citizen" agreement. This agreement had six conditions that students must agree to before they can continue to use internet access. Students are required to:
1) Respect Yourself
2) Protect Yourself
3) Respect Others
4) Protect Others
5) Respect Intellectual Property
6) Protect Intellectual Property

3) Research and Information Fluency
History Students must gain knowledge of how to research and gather data about important historical events.
Being Productive
Students must learn to work collaboratively together. Each student plays a role for the productive and safety in the classroom.
Locate and evaluate information through collaboaration
Students must gather information and data safely, and synthesize what is important. Working together with safety and security when using online sources creates productive responses.
4) Creativity and innovation
It is important that teachers work together to create an ideal atmosphere in history classes. Sometimes teachers even have to lead the way by dressing as characters.
