MARCH NEWS
A Note from Mrs Jeffers
Happy March! We had a fun February celebrating Valentine's Day as well as our Dr. Seuss week to raise money for Riley Children's Hospital. We had a lot of participants and are happy to send a small donation to the hospital in Little Learners name. Our PreK students also had the opportunity to see the "tooth fairy" and learn about dental health, as we had presenters from the Service League come to the preschool.
The next few months will be really busy with a lot of fun activities so please be on the lookout for information to come home. One of these activities is our March Read-a-Thon. We recognize that our preschoolers can not yet read on their own, but they benefit so much from being read to. We want to challenge our families to read at least one book a day to their student. When reading, focus on asking your child to point to pictures or answer simple questions. This will enhance their vocabulary and understanding of concepts and improve skills such as inferencing. As you read to your child or he/she looks at books throughout the month we encourage you to send pictures to the classroom teacher via Remind/Class Dojo. We want to celebrate books and the art of reading!
Preschool and Kindergarten Registration
It may only be March, but we are starting to think about next year already!! Preschool and Kindergarten registration will be coming up on April 9th for LaPorte Schools. If your student is going off to kindergarten next year, a flyer will be sent home regarding the date and times for you to sign your student up. It is imperative that you register your student for kindergarten!! If a case conference has been held and it has been determined that your student is attending a school other than the area in which you reside, please register your child at the recommended school. If you live outside of the LaPorte district, please see the dates listed below for when to register your student.
RETURNING Preschool students. You do NOT need to come to the preschool on the 9th to register for next school year. We will send home registration paperwork in your child's backpack for you to complete and return to the school to get on our list for the 24/25 school year. This paperwork will be sent home on April 1st and must be returned by April 9th!
NEW Preschool students! To all of our current families, if you know of anyone that is needing preschool services for next year, please pass along our registration information. We are always on the lookout for more great families and students like YOU!

Teacher of the Year Nominations
To enhance their appreciation for the exceptional educators within our school community, the Corporation is seeking nominations for Teacher of the Year for the 23/24 school year. At Little Learners we have some of the most thoughtful and dedicated teachers in the district! Each and every one of our team members is more than deserving of this recognition and we couldn't do what we do at Little Learners without them.
All nominated teachers will be celebrated at the LPCSC annual Years of Service event, highlighting their dedication and hard work. Additionally, one elementary and one secondary teacher will be selected to move on and represent the corporation by completing the Indiana Teacher of the Year application, showcasing their achievements and the positive influence they have on our educational community.
Any LPCSC community member, parents, students, etc., can nominate one elementary or intermediate (PreK-6th) and one secondary (7-12) teacher for the district award by filling out this Nomination Form.
