Counselor's Corner
Student Council would like to give a Giant Thank you to all the Miller Families who contributed to our Food Drive for the Manna House. We were able to donate 360 pounds of food which is AMAZING!!! Counseling for the month of March will look like lessons on Courage and managing test anxiety as we begin to enter into State testing. Reminders of courage and trying our best even when things get difficult are always wonderful things to touch base on at home. Remind our students it is about the effort they give and not just the scores they receive, everyone gets stressed or worried but we can make it though with courage and the techniques they will be learning during counselor time.
5th Grade
During the month of March, 5th grade will be completing our third unit in ELA. In this unit, we have been reading about Understanding the Universe. We also went to the Cosmosphere in Hutchinson, which was enjoyed by all of the students. We will be starting up Unit 2, which is about Finding Courage.
In math, we are doing addition and multiplication with volume and area. Please continue working with your child on basic multiplication and division facts. When we are comfortable with these facts, other skills become easier.
In Science, we will be finishing our Physical and Chemical unit about Interactions in Matter. Afterwards we will start up Social Studies, and we will learn about Road to Independence during the period of 1750-1770s.
5th grade will start State Testing over Science on March 26 and March 27. Make sure your child gets a good night rest and eats a healthy breakfast.
Enjoy your spring break!
