Reflections from the week of 4-10-17
I hope you had a glorious Easter celebration and had an opportunity to rest, recharge, and refocus to prepare for the last few weeks of school.
As you reflect on this school year, what educational challenges have you faced? Were you able to overcome them or are the issues still a thorn in your side? Overall, our year has gone well, but we will continue to analyze our practices and campus data to do what is best for our students. It saddens my heart to see the same faces in In-School Suspension, Thursday detentions, or on the failure lists. Coming to school to do nothing or to misbehave is unacceptable!
Of course, students play a pivotal role in their learning; they must be willing to put forth effort and should make better choices. I wholeheartedly agree, but how can we impart our knowledge on the benefits of learning when learning is not the major priority in some of our students' homes? We must consistently model what we expect, love our students, and believe in them. I have not met one student who wakes up and communicates that he or she wants to fail. Many students are hanging on by a thread and others have given up, but we will encourage them to press their way through these last few weeks of school. Sometimes the blessing comes in the pressing...so let's press our way to a successful end of school year.
This is Our Moment to Shine!
