I encourage everyone, if possible, to use the link with discounted tickets to join us on the evening of the 25th to support our choir and to celebrate the last day of school.
Explore! for Wilson’s Creek students will be held AT Cherokee in June and Pershing in July or online.
Anywhere you see that Wilson’s Creek is an Explore! site this summer is incorrect.
Students may personalize their summer journey by mapping their own route. Choose courses that explore the arts or dive into science and technology. The wide variety of courses to choose from will spark their interest and challenge their intellect. If you will be in seventh, you can even take Health and PE credits online.
· Seated Classes:
June 5-30 (at Cherokee) and July 10-21 (at Pershing)
· Hours:
7:30 – 3:00 p.m.
(Before and After school care is available through SPARC at Cherokee and YMCA at Pershing.)
· Virtual classes:
June 5-30 and July 5-31
· Transportation:
Wilson’s Creek students that live more than 2.5 miles from their designated Explore! site are eligible for transportation. For eligible students to receive bus transportation on the first day of seated classes in June, you must register requesting transportation by April 15. For eligible students to receive bus transportation on the first day of seated classes in July, you must register requesting transportation by May 15.
· EXPLORE! Registration:
Wilson’s Creek students can register beginning March 8th at 7:30 a.m. online at www.sps.org/explore, or by returning the form sent home with your child. Classes are filled on a first come basis so online registration is the most efficient way to guarantee your first choice. Paper applications aren’t processed as quickly.

Notes From the Nurse:
Medication policy reminder:
Students are not allowed to transport medication. Please do not send medication with your child to school or in their backpack. This is a safety issue not only for your child, but also for other children as they could potentially receive a medication in error. A parent has to bring the medication in to the nurse and sign paperwork to give us permission to administer. If we need refills of a medication, an adult has to bring it in every time. We are allowed to give three doses of an over the counter medication. After three doses, we need a doctor’s note to be able to continue to administer it. As always, feel free to call us with any questions! Our goal is to keep all kids safe!
Tooth Truck
Does Your Child Need Dental Care?
The Tooth Truck wants to help your child achieve a healthy smile! The Tooth Truck performs preventative cleanings and needed treatment for children qualifying for free/reduced school lunches to become cavity free (at no cost to the families). Applications will be sent home with your student for you to complete and return to the school nurse or you can complete the online application below.
Simply complete the application form in the link below for your child to be seen by the Tooth Truck
Helpful Websites/Resources for Parents
Music
Students will need to have a soprano recorder from amazon or a local music store. Do not buy a dollar store recorder as they will break easily and not produce correct notes. If you have any questions, please contact Mr. Parker.
CHOIR UPDATE
Wilson’s Creek Choir will have the privilege of singing the National Anthem at a Springfield Cardinals game on May 25th! We would to have as many people from Wilson’s Creek there to support our choir and to help in celebrating the last day of the school year! The game time is 7:05 PM.
Help support the Wilson’s Creek Choir in singing the National Anthem for the Springfield Cardinals game on May 25th, the last day of school! Tickets must be purchased through the link below and we need to sell 200 tickets by May 11th. Come enjoy some baseball and hear our choir sing!
Wilson’s Creek Art News
5th grade artists are finishing up their last major art project! This is a 1-point perspective aquarium tunnel. Next week we will be putting together an art portfolio for students to take home and show you some of their best work! I have enjoyed getting to know your students this year and I look forward to having them in art again next year!
Computers
Our school year will be over in less than a month. Our focus for computers in the fourth quarter is STEM, Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math, collaborative challenges.
You can go to 5th Grade Wilson Creek IT Canvas page for more information on our technology topics for the year. You can also contact me through Class Dojo for any feedback regarding the proposed investment club, questions or concerns.
