This week in school was awesome we learned about landforms. We worked on landform research where we got grouped with partners and we were assigned a landform like plateau. Then, the group decides what specific landform they want to research. For example, if they got mountains they could chose Mount Everest and they would write about that landform. We researched where it is and what animal and plant life live in it. We also found some interesting facts about it. If you got river, you could pick the Delaware river and say that black bears live there and so do bald eagles and river otters. For plant life, many peonies grow there. The delaware river also goes through NY, MD, DE, PA, etc. That is a example of what we are are doing in school. This week was really cool for all of us. We hoped you learned what we are doing in school and maybe some facts about the Delaware river.
Reading
By Ava Lawrence & Tessa Rhoades
This week in school 3s did a lot of fun activities in reading! One thing that we think was the most fun was drawing conclusions. You might be wondering, what is drawing conclusions?Well drawing conclusions is where you make an ending with the clues that the text has already given to you. We watched commercials from the super bowl and drew our own conclusions about what will happen next. The funniest commercial we watched was the happy grad commercial! In the happy grad commercial there was a college student who just graduated. And he thought he got a new car as a gift from his parents ,for graduating! But he actually got a mini refrigerator and the car was the neighbor's car. Another commercial that we thought was really funny was the Doritos commercial. In the Doritos commercial a person's cat went ‘’missing!’’ But the dog actually ate the cat. We figured that out when we saw the dog burying the cats name tag into the ground! Then later in the commercial we also saw the dog bribing his owner with Doritos so he wouldn't tell his wife about him eating the cat. This week was so fun in 3s ,and we can’t wait till next week.
Math

This week in math we played jeopardy. Jeopardy helped us review everything we learned for PARCC. We tried to answer questions correct to earn points. There were four teams. Each round a different representative went to the front of the room. When they answered a question first, and correct, their team received points. Every correct answer counts as 100 points. So if your team answers five questions correct, they would have 500 points. The team with the most points at the end wins. Team 3 won one of the days. This was a fun way to practice our math thinking.
