The "WEE"kly Warrior Update
4/14/24
Principal's Corner
Hello, Warrior Family!
I hope you all had a great weekend and are ready to rock out another week!
Our Warrior Challenge is still going strong and we are so excited that our Warriors are reading so much. Thank you to all of the parents, family members, community members, and friends who have supported the Warrior Challenge. We would like to send a special "thank you" to our amazing PTA for organizing such a great event. As of Friday afternoon, we were halfway to our goal!! Way to go Warriors!
We are excited to be able to bring an outdoor classroom to our WEE campus. The funds will also help enclose the interior portion of the campus. To clarify, this is in addition to the concrete safety barrier wall that will be constructed from the funds the District received from the settlement with the NCDOT.
This week we will continue the Warrior Challenge with a fun Spirit Week. Check out the "WEE"kly Update for more information about each theme day.
Thursday morning we will celebrate all the accomplishments from Quarter 3 with our Awards Ceremonies. Please see the "WEE"kly Update for more information.
Our 4th grade Warriors are excited for their recorder showcase concert on Thursday evening.
We are also excited to meet the rising WEE Warrior Kindergarteners at Kindergarten Registration on April 19th.
And, as always, let's make today better than yesterday and tomorrow better than today.
Good Things!

AM Car Line
We are still having some issues with cars parking in the driveway leading behind the cafeteria in the mornings. If you arrive prior to the opening of carline, please do not park and block the driveway that leads behind the cafeteria (see the blue line marked on the map below). This is for deliveries and our MCS Maintenance workers to access vital areas of the campus. Thank you!

Student Cell Phone and Smartwatch Policy
Student Cell Phone Policy
Students are not permitted to have cell phones on their person during the school day. Student cell phones should be turned off and remain in their bookbags. Smartwatches with cellular capabilities must be turned to Airplay mode and not used as cell phones during the school day.
(23/24 WEE Parent Handbook, pg. 10)
If you need to communicate with your student during the school day due to an emergency, please contact the front office.
No Cell Phones While Moving Through Car Line
We are asking that those who pick up and drop off students in the car line please not use their cell phones while navigating through the line. This causes distractions for drivers, potential unsafe situations for our staff and students, and delays in the movement of the line. Thank you for your help in this matter!
Arrival Procedures
This year the car line and bus line will open at 7:05 am. Please do not drop your student off prior to 7:05 am. Students will go directly to their classrooms unless they choose to eat breakfast. Note: This is a change from last year.
Students eating breakfast will eat in the cafeteria then move to their classrooms. The cafeteria will be open for breakfast from 7:05 am-7:25 am.
Morning Car Line Procedures
The car line will be open from 7:05 am to 7:30 am. During the first 2-3 weeks of school, the morning line may be longer than usual. We ask for your patience and adherence to the car line procedures to help this process move as efficiently as possible.
Morning Car Line Procedures:
- Please move all the way around the car line area to the cone marked #1.
- As you fill in the line please move close to the car in front of you leaving very little gaps.
- Student should exit on the passenger side of the vehicle. It is unsafe and slows the line down when students exit from the driver's side.
- Please remain in your vehicle. Students should exit the car on their own. However, if your student needs assistance put on your flashers. This will indicate to a staff member to assit your student. Staff members will not open the car door of every car in line. This slows down the process.
- Students will walk along the side walk by the 3-5 building and enter through the cafeteria doors (this is the same pattern we used last year). If your student does not need to eat breakfast he/she will move through the cafeteria and head directly to their classroom.
- It is imperative that students do not walk between cars in the car line. They must move to the side walk as quickly as possible.
Tardy Policy
Students arriving on campus after 7:30 am will be considered LATE. Please park and escort your child to the front office door where a staff member will sign them in. School personnel will escort them to their class. Please do not drop your child off or call the office.
(WEE Parent Handbook, pg. 5)
Early Dismissal Policies
We realize there are times you must pick your child up early. Please limit these occasions. All early dismissals must go through the front office and must be completed before 2pm. Students will not be released from the front office after 2pm. All vehicles must be clear from the front parking/bus lot by 2pm. Instruction continues right up until the end of the day. If you pick your child up early he or she will miss valuable classroom time. Please make sure that you list all persons that are approved to pick up your child on their information card. We are not allowed to release your child to any unauthorized person.
(WEE Parent Handbook, pg 6)
Dismissal Procedures
School is dismissed at 2:30pm. Please plan to have your child picked up on time. If you must change your child’s mode of transportation for the day, please put this in writing by sending a note or email to your child’s teacher. If this is a last minute change, please email your child’s teacher and call the front office. Please do not use Class Dojo for transportation changes. Students will not be allowed to go home any other way if they do not have a note provided by a parent. Only students who are currently on a bus roster may ride a MCS school bus. Administration is not allowed to approve requests for non-bus riders to ride home with a current bus rider. (WEE Parent Handbook, pg. 6)
Afternoon Carline Procedures
- All students will be assigned a number to be used at car line dismissal.
- Parents will receive a car hanger with their student's number on it that must be displayed during car line. If you have multiple children, you may condense all of the numbers onto 1 car hanger.
- Parents may write the students last name on the car hanger if they wish but it is not required.
- Once the initial round of car hangers have been dispersed, we will send home at least one more additional one so that all families have 2.
- Any person picking up a student in car line must have the car hanger.
- We will not block off the car line like we have done in the past. This will allow the first set of cars to move into place at the cones. It is important that if you are the first car in line that you move all the way to cone 1.
- Mrs. Holmes will start inputting numbers into the system at 2:20. This will allow students to know which cone they must go to as soon as we dismiss.
- Parents, it is important that everyone stay in line and not try to move around other cars. We will release all 7 cars at one time, then move the next set of 7 to the cones.
- Please be patient with us as we refine this process.
- Again, this is all about the safety of our students and staff.
Late Pick Up Policy
In order to ensure the safety of students, any student not picked up by 2:45 (or the end of the car line) will be placed in our Warrior Care. Parents will be charged a late pick up fee of $1 per minute. Unpaid late pick up fees will be added to the student’s school fees and will be reflected in PowerSchool. (WEE Parent Handbook, pg. 7)
