Mr. Macken's Message
Centerville Families,
Get ready for an exciting opportunity for your kids to enhance their math and reading skills with the March IXL Challenge, starting this Friday, March 8th! During this month-long contest, students are encouraged to solve as many math and reading problems as possible on the IXL website.
The challenge will run for four weeks and will feature weekly prizes to keep the excitement going.
Here's what's up for grabs:
- Week 1: Dum Dum suckers and a drawing to see who gets to bring three friends to lunch with Mr. Macken, where they will play a game and enjoy dessert.
- Week 2: Mr. Macken autographed erasers and ten Cougar water bottles.
- Week 3: Cougar pencils and five Culver's ice cream cones.
- Week 4: Dum Dum Suckers and a drawing to see who gets to bring a friend to a McDonald's picnic lunch with Mr. Macken.
As we head into spring break on March 9th, this challenge is a fantastic way for kids to keep their brains engaged and have fun while doing so. Whether they're waiting for a flight to a warm destination or just looking for something challenging to do over break, the March IXL Challenge is a perfect fit.
Together, we can make learning fun and rewarding for our students! Check out this promotional video that was shared with students this week for more details, and enjoy the break with your kids.
Go Cougars!
Mike Macken

School Board Hosts Listening Session for the Public
In the District's ongoing efforts to gather feedback from our stakeholders, the Centennial School Board is hosting a Listening Session for the public on March 18, 5:30pm-6:15pm. The session will be held in the District Board Room prior to the regularly scheduled board meeting. Listening sessions are held quarterly to provide the opportunity for community members, parents, students, and staff to meet informally with board representatives and the superintendent to discuss topics in the schools.
Centennial Preschool Registration Opens March 1
The Centennial School District offers high-quality part-day and full-day preschool experiences. Preschool classes are designed to prepare students, ages 3-5, and families for success in kindergarten, practicing both academic and social skills in a “learning-through-play” philosophy. Full-day classrooms are located at each of the elementary schools in the Centennial School District; part-day classrooms are at the Early Childhood Center. Our preschool has earned a 4 Star Parent Aware Rating. Registrations received between March 1 and March 22 will be included in the placement lottery. Registration will remain open after the lottery for remaining seats. Program and registration information can be found on the district’s website.
