Help the Gorillas in the Virunga Mountains
Life for Mountain Gorillas isn't all that peaceful. They are endangered. Gorillas are threatened by hunters killing them for food and trophies, and their forests are being chopped down for farmland, fuel, and housing. But many scientists, park rangers, and other people are working hard to protect mountain gorillas, their forests, and their way of life in the mountains.

How Gorillas live and what their environment is like
Gorillas live in groups of 6-12. The oldest and the largest silverback leads the family. The younger gorillas are called blackbacks The silverbacks decide when the group is going to wake up, eat, move, and rest for the night. Most of the time, the silverback is aggressive, especially when he thinks something is threatening his family. The silverback is usually trying to protect it's family.

How gorillas survive
Gorillas are peaceful and gentle animals, but a lot of people think that they are not. A lot of people that have had a gorilla encounter saw the gorilla charging or chest pounding. CAN YOU EXPLAIN WHY THEY DO THIS, AND WHETHER IT MEANS PEOPLE MAY BE IN DANGER?) Mountain gorillas eat roots, plants, and fruit. They are also very active and move around a lot.
Gorillas are are important
Gorillas, like all animals, play an important role in the ecosystem. Without gorillas, there would not be a lot of other animals eating a variety of vegetation. The food chain wouldn’t be equal. People need to keep gorillas alive, and there are a lot plants that won't be eaten if mountain gorillas become extinct.
