From the Desk of Mrs. Hawk
It has been an exciting week at SRE and we are so thankful for the family's support of Grizzly Gives Week. As of this morning, we are over $1800 raised for this wonderful cause. On Tuesday, members of our student council and I will go to TRHS to present our check and be a part of the Grizzly Gives assembly. I can't wait to represent SRE and our support of the Grizzly family.
It was wonderful to see so many families in our building last night for the first night of conferences. The teachers have worked tirelessly to prepare and we are so glad to have these moments to partner together in celebrating and supporting your children. We also loved seeing families participate in our 3v3 basketball tournament and our special art workshop.
Our spring break begins on Monday, March 18th, and we hope you all have a relaxing break and I am really hoping get to enjoy a sunny Colorado week and not a spring blizzard! When we return from break, our students in grades 3-6 will be in final preparations for our state CMAS testing. This is state mandated testing in English Language Arts and Math for grades 3-6, and 5th grade also takes the Science exam. Our testing will begin the week of April 1st and we are scheduled to have all grades take tests in the morning and afternoon Tues-Thurs that week. Fifth graders will take science sessions during the mornings of the week of April 8th. Please help us in completing these tests in a timely manner, by making sure your children are at school on time and by avoiding all appointments and out of school adventures those days. I have posted below a letter from the TRHS feeder principals about the importance of state testing for our schools, that I hope you will take a moment to read.
Thank you again for your support of SRE and Grizzly Gives and for sharing your wonderful kids with us each day!
Grizzly Gives Update
Due to your incredible generosity towards our Grizzly Gives initiative with Thunder Ridge High School, we have raised $1877.67 out of our $3000 goal! Let's keep the momentum going by participating in Crazy Hair Day TOMORROW and Mismatch Day on MONDAY, with $2.00 donations each Day. We will also be selling Cereal Bars for an EXTRA $2.00 donation tomorrow and possibly Monday. Remember, every donation brings us closer to reaching our target. Together, We are Better! Thank you for making a difference in our community. ~Mrs. Papastathis
Important: Grief Resource
Dear Saddle Ranch Families,
You may have heard about the tragedy in Highlands Ranch yesterday. Our hearts go out to the family and Summit View and Mountain Ridge school communities. When something so tragic happens, it affects people throughout our district. Students can respond to grief in a variety of ways, in their own time, and may demonstrate different behaviors or needs. Attached is a resource with information about responding to children dealing with grief.
Please let your child's teacher or school administration know if your child is needing additional support.
