Leader in Me
How have the Habits helped you?
In the past months we revisited the 7 (8) Habits and asked you to click on the links in the newsletter to learn how they can be used at home.
This month, I would like to build on that.
Please respond to this email and list the ways the 7 Habits have helped you stay on track during the COVID-19 Quarantine.
If you need a refresher or the links again, I am providing them below!
I can't wait to see your replies!
The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People are:
- Habit 1: Be Proactive (You’re in Charge)
- Habit 2: Begin With the End in Mind (Have a Plan)
- Habit 3: Put First Things First (Work First, Then Play)
- Habit 4: Think Win-Win (Everyone Can Win)
- Habit 5: Seek First to Understand, Then to Be Understood(Listen Before You Talk)
- Habit 6: Synergize (Together Is Better)
- Habit 7: Sharpen the Saw (Balance Feels Best)
- Habit 8: Find your Voice
Click on the links below to learn more about the 7 Habits and how they can be used at home to build a culture of effectiveness.
Rest in Peace Mr. Williams
Roosevelt became a member of our School Family at the start of the 2019 school year. In fact, Roosevelt holds the distinct honor of being our first "official school bus driver." Roosevelt displayed a big heart for the students and athletic teams he served. His commitment to serve them knew no bounds. Whether driving the teams to the Oklahoma border or down to Waco, he was always back at work the next morning by 6 a.m. to handle his regular morning student pickup run.
After meeting Roosevelt in November, it was easy to see that his dedication and faithfulness came from his love of family. Roosevelt often expressed love for his own children, his mom, and his sister.
Upon hearing of Roosevelt's death, Coach Beaver, Campus Athletic Director, said this about him, "I am saddened to hear this. Roosevelt was always so helpful and willing every time to take our teams everywhere and anywhere! Praying for his family. He will be missed!"
Every member of our campus family echoes this same sentiment: he will be thoroughly missed by all!
Respectfully,
Mr. Carroll and Mrs. Morrison

Free things to do for Summer!
COVID-19 Summer Slide and Continuing Instruction
This summer, Educators are expecting that there may be a greater Summer slide (up to a year behind) due to the lack of instruction through the end of the year. The Khan Academy link below can help tremendously when students have at least 45 minutes a week of continued instruction in Math and Reading. Our goal is to have our Leaders continue to read and practice math throughout the Summer, we are even including a little challenge. Our Texas Leadership Students will still have access to their Clever accounts as well. Please encourage them to continue to practice during the Summer. We want to give them every opportunity to grow and be successful in the 2020-2021 school year.
Texas Leadership Reading Challenge!
Prizes will be awarded to everyone who participates and there will be a grand prize winner for the person who reads the most books. Grades 3-12 are eligible to participate!

Guests have included:
Shaun Larkin, Field Coordinator for the Los Angeles Dodgers
Roy Hallenbeck, Millville (NJ) HS Baseball Coach (HS coach of three-time American League MVP Mike Trout)
Xan Barksdale, Former NCAA D1 coach and current USA National Team coach, and co-host of a nationally syndicated podcast
Tyler Gillum, coach at South Mountain Community College in Phoenix and minor league manager of the Savannah (GA) Bananas
Chris McKnight, MLB scout for the Baltimore Orioles, and former college head coach
We are Enrolling!
