Golden TIMES
See 'First Friends' Again at Grace's Homecoming Weekend 2017
The gentle rhythm of the rails rocked the songwriter to sleep.
As he dreamed, he saw the faces of old friends, his first friends. He saw the rooms where they'd hung out, where they shared their stories, had sung their songs and told their jokes; rooms that were not unlike those where most teenagers share their lives with those first few friends. Insulated from 'the world outside', it seemed as though they would always be young and life would always be fun.
At the time they could never have conceived how quickly their paths in life would diverge and just how far apart they would be taken from each other-quite possibly to never meet again.
Waking, he crafted the dream into verse, and wrote it down in song.
"Now many a year has passed and gone, many a gamble has been lost and won, and many a road taken by many a first friend... each one of them I've never seen again. I wish, I wish, oh how I wish in vain that we could sit simply in that room once again! Ten thousand dollars at the drop of a hat- I'd give it all gladly if our lives could be like that."

"The One Thing I Regret..."
"...is not hanging on to the relationships built while I was at Grace. We all grow, move, change...But those days at Grace helped mold me in more ways than can be imagined."
