Our Leadership Quality of the week is "Effort"
CHARACTER TRAIT OF THE WEEK
LEEdership Quality of the Week:
doing your best in an endeavor
A lesson in Leadership:
It is rude to ask if you are getting something for good behavior. You should be good and try your best because you are trying to better yourself, not because you are anticipating a reward.
Lee Quote of the Week:
“Don’t be content with being average. It is as close to the bottom as it is to the top.” -Anonymous

What we are learning:
READING & WRITING
Reading this week, we will continue with our Nonfiction unit. Learners are learning ways how nonfiction texts become increasingly complex and understanding those complexities. We also will continue our new read-aloud book, Prairie Lotus by Linda Sue Park. This is the 2020 Global Read Aloud Book.
Math
In Math, learners began a new unit on operations with fractions. Learners explored different web sites to work interactively with fractions. They practiced representing different problems that included addition and subtraction of fractions.
SCIENCE
In Science, learners are exploring all the different kinds of energy and their uses. This week explored electric energy. Learners conduct experiments at home and create videos to explain learning.
SOCIAL STUDIES
In Social Studies this week, we learned about the Articles of Confederation. Learners identified the strengths and weaknesses of the document.
Istation and Dreambox
This week we took our November ISIP.
LEE SPURS BOOK CLUB!
Save the Date Fall Picture Day: November 11th
Lee's Fall Picture Day is Wednesday, November 11, 2020. We schedule picture days so that we have photos for our student records, and for the yearbook. Parents can also purchase a photo if they wish, and the school receives a portion of the sales, so it is also a fundraiser.
Due to the current circumstances, this picture day will be different. In-School students will be photographed first thing in the morning, and Remote Learning students will have the opportunity to come in to have their photo taken between 9:45 AM- 2:15 PM.
At all sessions, we will be adhering to the safety protocols adopted by Coppell ISD. The protocols for the photographer are available on THIS LINK. Remote Learning students can sign up for a slot at Picture Day Sign-up . Parents of Remote Students should accompany their students to the front entrance of the school at the chosen time. The student will be asked to step inside, wearing a mask, and they will be asked to use hand sanitizer. Parents will wait outside. The student will be photographed at the camera station just inside our school entrance, removing their mask only for the actual photo, and while they are at a safe distance from all other people. The student can then leave, having only spent a short time inside our school.
To assist us in avoiding crowds, we ask that students come at the scheduled time only. If you have more than one learner, please schedule an appointment for each one. To help with social distancing, we ask that our FamiLEEs stand on the dots on the cement that are 6 feet apart.
Photos can be pre-purchased online or ordered on the day. You will receive some emails from Lifetouch with ordering details.
Student Zoom Sign In Update: Please make sure that learners log into ZOOM with their g.coppellisd.com accounts. If you would like more information, please view this website.

Important Information
Istation: At the beginning of every month, learners will take their monthly Istation assessments. They know the routine for this - there are 4 parts to this assessment - Vocabulary, Spelling, Comprehension (reading a story & answering questions), and Fluency. It is very important that you DO NOT assist your learner with this assessment.
Student Zoom Sign In Update: Please make sure that learners log into ZOOM with their g.coppellisd.com accounts starting on Monday, August 31st. If you would like more information, please view this website.
Here is a step by step guide on how to complete this action
Schoology: As we continue with virtual learning, Schoology is a very important tool during this time. We know some of our learners are using the app, but it is best for them to use the web-based version: https://schoology.coppellisd.com/
Learners need to make sure they are completing and submitting all of their work for each course since that is how we are taking attendance. In addition, although online learning is taking place at home, learners should be starting and finishing their work on their own as they would in-person at school.
Lee Specials Quarterly Newsletter: Our specials team puts out a newsletter each week. Check it out!
Box Tops: Did you know you can SCAN Box Tops and earn money for our school with items you already purchase for your home? Learn more about this quick and easy way to help our school.
