Rosa Parks Elementary Rocket News
September 16, 2019
Hello Rocket Families!
What an outstanding week we have had. Thank you to all the families who participated in Spirit Night, Open House, and for those who joined us for an exciting night of movie fun! Just a reminder we have our fundraiser currently taking place. Our goal this year with PTO is to be able to place a shade structure over the playground benefiting our students during these hot, humid days during recess.
We also had our first lock-down drill -in which students and teachers turned off the lights in the classrooms, engaged the rhino-locks put in place in all classrooms for added security, and made their way to a corner. As the leadership team walked the campus to monitor our drill, I was very proud of how quickly students and teachers made their way into classrooms and locked down the classrooms and how calm all students and staff remained.

Morning Drop-Off
We want to ensure our students get to school safe and you are able to move through the line efficiently. Please follow the following procedures during our morning drop off:
- Doors Open: We open the building for our students at 7:30 a.m.
- Pull Up: When you come through the line, please adhere to the staff on duty each morning. Pull all the way up to the second cross walk. Please look to the staff on duty to direct traffic. If the staff on duty ask you to wait stop for the crosswalk, please do so. If you are asked to stop, please stop and wait.
- Passing Lane: Please do not use the passing lane unless you have made your way outside of the unloading zone, which is past the second cross-walk. When passing, please do not speed up to pass another car.
- Tardy Bell: The tardy bell rings at 8:10 a.m. in which staff will no longer be on duty. If your child is Tardy, you will be required to park your car and enter the building to sign your child in to school for the day. With the building opening at 7:30 a.m. please ensure your child is here at school, ready to learn, no later than 8:10 a.m.
- Volunteer: If you are available to help assist our staff in the morning, please complete this brief form and a staff member will contact you. Volunteers can help the campus one day out of the week or as many days as you are able to assist.
Tardy Update
****Upon the doors being locked at 8:10 a.m., families will be required to park their cars and sign their children in each morning.****
Morning announcements and community circles begin promptly at 8:10 a.m.; therefore, it is imperative our students are in class ready to begin their learning for the day. This week we will remind parents of these procedures; however, the week of September 23, 2019 this will begin a required expectation.
Lunch Applications
REMINDER: All families must reapply every year for assistance with lunch. If you are in need of support with lunch, please be sure to complete the free and reduced lunch application. We want to help ensure every student is able to receive breakfast and lunch every day.
