Message from the Executive Director
Survey Results and Welcome to New Families
First, I would like to take a moment to formally welcome all our newly enrolled students and families who will be joining us for the 2020-2021 school year. Our faculty and staff are here to assist you in getting the most out of your educational experience so please don’t hesitate to reach out with any questions. We are excited to have you on board and look forward to your involvement and success.
Thank you to all of you who took the time to participate in the recent Fall Expectations Parent Survey. We received responses from over 70% of our school system population and have found the results to be very useful in our preparations for the upcoming school year.
Overall satisfaction with our schools’ current Distance Learning programs is 95%. These results are very encouraging, and we thank our students and families for trusting us to continue to deliver an excellent education through this tumultuous time. We are reviewing feedback and working hard to make the necessary adjustments to get program satisfaction to 100% moving forward.
A summary of the survey results for the entire Orlando Science Schools System, which includes Orange, Osceola, and Seminole campuses, can be found below. Individual campus results will be shared with each campus directly.
We will be utilizing survey responses for internal planning purposes to ensure we are making the best and safest decisions for our campuses. The results will also be available to share with our community leaders should they need additional input as they continue to make plans for the upcoming school year.
At this time, readiness for the Fall semester is progressing well as we secure cleaning and disinfectant materials. Additional guidance concerning implementation of various new sanitation measures, and any other updated policies and procedures that would be required to return to an in-school academic setting, will be shared as we get closer to the start of the academic year. While we hope for the best, we are working diligently to prepare for every eventuality to make sure our students and staff are safe regardless of the learning environment we find ourselves in this fall and beyond.
On a more somber note, I am disheartened by the recent upheaval that our country has experienced on the basis of race and equality. As a school which prides itself on the diversity of its student population, we can sometimes forget that there are still places out there where differences are not celebrated. Let us all remember to do our part to make sure our school continues to be a place where all our students, staff, and families can feel safe and respected. Let us continue to build the character of our students by teaching and showing them how to have respect and compassion for all, to celebrate diversity, and to advocate for a safe learning environment. These core values will help our students pave the way for a better tomorrow.
Thank you to both our new and returning families for entrusting the Orlando Science Schools System with your student’s education. We will continue to Strive for Excellence to make sure our high-quality education not only continues undisturbed for your student but also meets and exceeds your expectations.
