Improvments on transportation
It was in the 1800's when the Transportation Revolution was experienced in the United States due to the fact that there was new methods of transportation. The methods of transportation were steamboats and the Railroad system. Both new transportation methods would help transport goods and people and because of this the economy surged forward and major cities began to grow in the 19th century.
Steamboats and trains
Steamboats did the same as trains but over water instead of land.
Railroad system
The railroad system had linked almost every major city in the Eastern United States by 1860
Lowell Girls Working Conditions
American Industry in the North 1800's was an era that intoduced factories that had machines and predetermined taks and one of the factories was the Lowell factory. The Lowell system employed young unmarried women and they would work using textiles mills. Lowell system consturcted borading houses where the women could stay and they were given food along with their job. The employers were called the Lowell girls and they would work from five o' clock in the morning until seven in the evening they worked nearly fourteen hours a day. Since the girls were all diffrent ages working these many hours was the greatest hardship for the children. This factory would still give young women money and taught them about independence.
Developments in Manufacturing and Industry
It was in the 1800s when the when the American Industry began. There was factories that had machines and predetermined tasks. The factories produced items and shipped them and would be sold.
