Important Information for Families - Tik Tok Challenges
Over the past month, there have been incidents of vandalism in school bathrooms as part of a Tik Tok challenge called “Devious Licks”. These incidents have taken place in schools across the nation, as well as at Lehigh Valley Academy (LVA).
TikTok is a social media application that has an age rating of 12+. If you would like more information about the application, please see the attached information sheet.
Schools have been made aware that the challenge for the month of October is “Slap a Staff Member”. Please note that this type of behavior is unacceptable and has serious consequences as outlined in the school’s Code of Conduct and that these consequences may also involve the police.
As a strong and supportive community, we ask that our families speak to their children about social media, current trends, and how these temporary fads can ultimately impact their future.
It is very important for all of us that our students and staff take pride in our school and respect each other.
Thank you for your support in helping us to mitigate this situation before it can occur.

TeenTober
TeenTober is a new, nationwide celebration hosted by libraries every October. It aims to celebrate teens and promote year-round teen services and literacies. We encourage students to participate in the Young Adult Library Services Association’s (YALSA) annual TeenTober celebration. Developed by YALSA, this month-long event strives to raise awareness of the importance of year-round teen services and connect teens with services and materials provided by their local libraries that will help them develop new skills and fuel their passions. TeenTober merges YALSA’s successful and long-standing Teen Tech Week™ and Teen Read Week™ initiatives into one program.

School Nutrition Program (Free Breakfast & Lunch)
We are pleased to announce that we will be participating in the Seamless Summer Option (SSO) in the 2021-2022 school year. All enrolled students are eligible to receive free breakfast and/or lunch when in attendance (no need to pre-order or sign-up in advance).
Menus are posted monthly on the LVA website under the "Nutrition Services" tab.
Although no further action is required for your child(ren) to receive breakfast and/or lunch at no charge, we are still encouraging families who think they may qualify for Free and Reduced benefits to fill out the Free and Reduced Application as there are many other benefits, like EBT cards with additional funds, that come along with the qualified eligibility.
