Getting here: The building is located by Red and Blue Max Lines (Skidmore Fountain stop), and within 2 blocks walking distance of bus lines 12, 16, 19, and 20. Hourly parking is located behind the building at the corner of SW 1st and SW Ankeny, and a few blocks north at the corner of NW Davis and NW 1st.

Morning Workshops

Equity & Empowerment: Lasting Partnerships Through Inner Personal Transformation
This two hour interactive training will present participants with a new way of looking at the world, their role in promoting fairness and justice, and begin the lifelong process of transforming ourselves to be more effective advocates for equity. Read more here.
Who Has the Food – and Who’s Going Hungry
What does it mean to be food secure? We do produce enough to feed the world – why are millions of people still hungry? One of MercyCorps most popular workshops; this session will focus on the four pillars of food security in a fun and interactive format.

Open Space
Members assemble their own groups each centered around a different topic such as “Life After AmeriCorps,” “Challenges,” or “Professional Development,” and lead their own sessions on those topics.

Lunch
Lunch is on your own. Feel free to bring a sack lunch, or visit the many food carts close by. The conference room at MercyCorps is available for use during lunch.

Put Your Blog to Work
How can blog writing be a tool for social change? This session helps answer that question in an interactive and engaging format.
Community Mobilization
When you know how to get people working together, you can start solving big problems. How do we start to analyze problems and assess our community practices? Find out how to look deeper at problems and recognize where social change can occur.
