Students of the Month!
Each month SFE recognizes students who have gone above and beyond to show their 3Rs: Respectful, Responsible and Ready to Learn! Students are nominated by their classroom and/or special subject teachers. Congratulations to our March Student of the Month recipients!
Toodles!
Toodle Tickets continue to be a hit! Students are invited to fill out a Toodle Ticket to give a special shout out to another student who was kind or helpful! At the end of every month, Toodle Tickets are chosen from grades 2-5. These students are then invited to have a special popsicle with Mrs. Francis. Check out the pictures below from our recent Pops with the Principal!
Teacher of the Month!
Teachers are nominated by students, who were extremely thoughtful about their nominations! Congratulations to Mrs. Amato, our March Teacher of the Month!
Grade Level Highlights!
Multi-Age Classroom Update!
It has been a busy month in the Multi-age classroom. From leading the opening ceremonies of the school-wide Olympics parade, to sorting and organizing all of the wonderful donations. Many of the students have been working hard to get out and join their grade level classes for a variety of activities. Even through all of this, there was still plenty of time for learning, as they are all making great progress in the academic areas. Way to go!
Grade 2 March Roundup!
Grade 3: ELA RICAS Prep!
Grade 4: Math Collaboration!
Mr. Latendresse recently spent some time in grade 4 helping out in math and taught us a new math strategy game called MADS (multiple, add, subtract, divide)!
Grade 5: Rooster Games!
Burrillville 5th graders recently participated in Rooster Games!
Rooster games is a tournament all about books on the Rhode Island Children's Book Award (RICBA) list. Students are asked to identify objects that belong to a book, match authors and titles, and answer questions about all the books on the list. At the end of the tournament, students celebrated with a pizza party!
Special thanks to our SFE and WLC librarians for organizing this fun educational event bringing together 5th graders from both schools, and thank you to all the parents who volunteered!
Tooth Fairy Visit!
Dr. Romani and the Tooth Fairy visited with our second graders to talk about how to take care of our teeth! Thank you to Dr. Romani and the Tooth Fairy for sharing important dental hygiene information with us and sending all the students home with goodie bags!
Smoothie Bike!
The Burrillville Bronco Smoothie Bike made its way to SFE and our faculty and students loved trying the new healthy smoothies! The recipe is below!
Olympic Torch Parade & Winter Games!
In an effort to bring some FUN into test preparation AND introduce the Olympic games to students, staff and students have been participating in a Test Prep Olympics! We kicked off the school-wide focus with our own Olympic Torch Parade. Each homeroom created a flag to represent their class and proudly displayed it during the parade. A few students from each homeroom also compete in "winter games" to accrue points for their homeroom. We have one more set of games in April!
All-State Chorus
Congratulations to Mr. Latendresse and our 5 students (Alexis, Brooke, Amberlyn, Adalyn, and John) who sang in the All-State Elementary Chorus!
Spring Scholastic Book Fair
Thanks to Mrs. Adams and parent volunteers for another fun and successful book fair! Mrs. Adams could not put on this fundraiser without the help of volunteers like you. We appreciate your time!
