To become a research scientist, you need a PhD degree in scientific discipline and at least two years of experience or an MS degree with at least eight years of experience in a research environment. Although it requires a lot of schooling, it pays off (literally) you can get payed as low as 30K or more than 100K depending on what type of research scientist you are. That is 24.56 an hour! It is also a friendly work environment, a lot of payed time off, there is a lot of flexibility allowed in your work schedule, there is many projects, and you have the ability to learn new instrumentation and analytical methods.

In biotechnology, a research scientist is someone who get's as much information as possible for research. They can design, implement, and execute scientific R and D projects. If you are someone that is interested in this job then you will need technical proficiency, scientific creativity, to be able to collaborate with others and to be able to think independently. They mainly perform experiments, make observations, or created detailed papers of what they discover.
