KMS WEEKLY UPDATE
Dear Parents and Guardians,
It is with great pleasure that I write to introduce myself as the Kodiak Middle School Principal for the 2024- 2025 school year. I am honored and excited to have the opportunity to serve Kodiak Middle School and contribute to the growth and development of our staff and students. Throughout my career, I have had the privilege of working with diverse groups of students, parents, and educators, and I believe that these experiences have prepared me well for the challenges and responsibilities that come with being a school principal. Over the past two years, I have served as an assistant principal at Kodiak Middle School. Prior to working as an assistant principal, my experience for KIBSD includes gifted and talented teacher for the middle and high school, middle school math teacher for Kodiak Remote Learning, and 5th grade teacher at Main Elementary. Prior to moving to Kodiak in 2018, I taught three years of middle school math in Maryland and six years of middle school math in Virginia. Over the course of my career, my passion for working with middle school students is one thing that has never changed. I enjoy coming to work each day to learn and build relationships with students and staff.
One of my primary objectives as Middle School Principal is to ensure a safe and supportive educational environment that encourages academic excellence, personal growth, and social-emotional well-being. I am committed to fostering strong relationships with students, parents, and staff, and I will strive to maintain open lines of communication to address any concerns or suggestions that may arise. I look forward to meeting each and every one of you and working collaboratively to create an enriching and fulfilling educational journey for our students. I am excited for the journey ahead.
Yours sincerely,
Rena Rankin

VISITOR & VOLUNTEER PROCEDURE
KIBSD Schools are excited to welcome our visitors and volunteers to the different schools.
If you have not visited one of our schools before or have been coming for a long time, we have made some minor changes to standardize our process throughout the schools.
There will now be a sign-in binder you will be asked to sign, along with the name tag you are used to wearing. We ask for your patience, if we have not seen you before, you will be asked to present an ID when you sign in.
All non-KIBSD employees in the buildings will be asked to use staff facilities, not the student washrooms.
We also want to say good-bye when you leave so we are asking everyone to stop by the office to sign out.
ATTENDANCE, CHECK-OUT, & DROP-OFF PROCEDURES
