IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT: Narcan Boxes to be installed in our school buildings
Dear Families,
As part of our ongoing commitment to ensuring the safety and well-being of our students and staff, we wanted to inform you of an upcoming addition to our school buildings: Narcan boxes.
In response to the opioid crisis affecting communities across the nation, including our own, we will soon be installing Narcan boxes in our schools. These Narcan boxes will contain the necessary supplies to administer the medication in the event of an emergency.
Similar to how we handle our Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) and Epi-Pens, the Narcan boxes will be strategically placed throughout our school buildings and will be easily accessible in case of need. Additionally, our staff will undergo thorough training on the proper administration of Narcan, ensuring that we are well-prepared to respond swiftly and effectively to any opioid-related emergency.
While we sincerely hope that such a situation never arises within our school community, we believe it is essential to be prepared and equipped to respond effectively to any potential opioid-related incidents. The planned installation of Narcan boxes is part of our comprehensive approach to emergency preparedness and student safety. Please rest assured that the Narcan boxes will be securely stored and accessible only to trained personnel. Our staff members will undergo training in recognizing the signs of opioid overdose and administering Narcan, ensuring that we are well-prepared to respond swiftly and effectively to any emergency situation.
We understand that the topic of opioids and overdose can be sensitive, but we believe that open communication and proactive measures are crucial in keeping our school community safe. If you have any questions or concerns about the installation of Narcan boxes in our school buildings, please do not hesitate to reach out to us.
Thank you for your continued support as we work together to prioritize the health and safety of our students and staff.
Sincerely,
Jennifer Krause, BSN, RN, NCSN
