America & Me Essay Contest Winners
While 8th graders spent a great deal of time learning about American History in their Social Studies classes, several also took time to reflect and write about their American heroes earlier this year.
As you might recall, several 8th graders participated in the America and Me Essay contest, where the students wrote about his/her own Michigan hero. This was an optional writing contest that hundreds of students participate in each year across the state of Michigan.
The contest judges sent the results back to Romeo Middle School recently. The top three RMS entries are as follows:
1st place was Chantal Palazzolo, who wrote about Ms. Walker, her elementary English Support teacher.
2nd place was Alyssa Acha, who wrote about John Brown, her “Papaw.”
3rd place was Liam Christensen, who wrote about his dad Bryan Christensen.
All three will receive a special certificate recognizing their achievement, and Chantal’s entry was also entered into the state-wide competition. Congratulations to these three writers for their inspiring essays.
Advisors of the Month!
6th Grade, Mr. Czartoryski:
He makes learning fun and is the funniest person I know. We do cool activities that build teamwork. His obsession with Bigfoot makes us laugh. He has helped everyone so much, and he cares more about our safety than anything else. He truly is a productive member of society!"
7th Grade, Mrs. Byrne:
"Ms. Byrne is always cheerful and loves to interact with the class. If we need help with our homework, we can always come to her. For Second Step, she talks about how to solve problems instead of just reading the slides. She has so many different types of games and building materials she lets us use and is very chill about what we do as long as it is safe and not too crazy. Ms. Byrne is an amazing advisory teacher and we are very thankful for her."
8th Grade, Mrs. Paulson:
8th Grade, Mrs. Paulson:
"She always makes Second Step and our class meetings engaging. She is great at answering our questions and helping us with our grades. Every week, she asks us about our plans for the weekend, and we do fun activities on Fridays. She is the best!"
