El Dorado Monday Memo
Week 10 October 21st, 2019
#ToroFamily
Happy Monday everyone! Sorry for the delayed and abbreviated Monday Memo this week. The Clausen house has a sick kid and had a quick trip to the ER Sunday for another kid (everyone is fine). We had an AMAZING Family Fun Walk on Saturday (pics above) and want to give a huge shout out to our PFC for putting on such a great community event. We also held our first Parent University last week and help parents get onto their Homelink accounts. Thank you for all of the hard work you all put in last week on Wed and Thur looking through your data with your departments. I know this is challenging work but your energy and willingness to reflect on our practices makes for light work. Let's go!!!! Check out below for the updates for this week and I hope you all have a great week!
Updates for the week...

Looking for some engaging math strategies? Not a math teacher? That’s perfectly fine because many of these activities can be adapted to any content class! They will get your students thinking and talking about what they are learning.

Continue to discuss respect with our students. Tell them that positive beliefs make us feel good about ourselves, negative beliefs make us feel bad about ourselves. Ask, what happens to your self respect when you believe the negative things that other people say?
Ask students if they agree or disagree with the following statement and why: self respect helps you make good choices and at the same time, making good choices increases your self respect. Ask them to list 3 things you can do that can increase your self respect. Have students write down suggestions on post-it notes and do the “give one, get one” strategy.
