Who were the Mayans?
The Mayans were one of the meso American indigenous groups. The Mayans were located on the yucatán peninsula covering all of it. They were also located in the Mexican states of tobasco.
Why were the Mayans important?
They Mayans were very important because they invented a very complex 365 day calendar. They are also important because they invented the concept of zero. They also developed a number system.
What happend to the Mayans?
Something unknown happend to shake the Mayans to their foundations between the 18th and the 19th century. It seemed one by one the cities were abandoned and left. By 900 AD the Mayans had collapsed.
How did the Mayans organize them selves?
The Mayans organized them selves by clans. They would have a decent man that was the head of a clan. Above the clan they would have rulers which directed the clan and the clan leader.
