May Term
Over the last few years Frankfort High has launched a May Term. In a traditional year, May Term covers the last four weeks of the school year. It provides students who need additional time and targeted support, the instruction they need to finish out in their content classes and also offers students who have completed all their work an opportunity to explore additional dual credit courses and extension opportunities.
While this year has presented challenges and caused school to look different in many ways, we are still striving to offer a consistent experience like any other year at FHS. On Monday, May 10th we will be beginning a shortened May Term experience to close out the 2020-2021 school year. Students who need additional time to complete their courses will continue to report to each of their classes at regular time and continue through their regular schedule.
Students who have completed all of their courses will be enrolled in a May Term group. These groups will participate in post-secondary sessions set up by our guidance staff, such as ‘What To Expect in College’ & ‘Budgeting and Job Exploration.’ The day for May Term students will conclude with Lifetime Fitness and Hobby Trips that will allow the students explore activities within the community.
As consistent with the school year students in May Term groups may participate virtually or in-person. Students participating virtually must log in for attendance purposes. Each morning students will need to log into their first class of the day in order for their teacher to relay their daily May Term assignment/group.
It is highly recommended that students who are still working through their course work attend in-person in order to receive the high level of support and instruction from their teachers. Students who do not complete their courses by May 21st will be required to attend our Frankfort High Summer Academy. Summer Academy will be held June 7th-18th and July 6th-16th from 8:30-12:30 each day. Summer Academy will not have a virtual option.
If you have any questions or would like to know where you currently stand in your course work please reach out to their RISE Mentor or our School Counselors.

Frankfort Lead Leadership Conference
Student Leadership Conference May 13 & 14
Many FHS students have been nominated by their teachers to attend Frankfort Leads, a leadership conference on May 13 and 14. If students are “on track,” meaning that they are passing all Summit Classes, they should have received an email invitation. In this letter, they will find information on how to register and get involved in other optional events. If they did not receive an invitation, do not worry! Once they become “on track,” they will receive an invitation. Check out the images below explaining the conference in further detail!

KidsFest
I wanted to share information on an event that is currently happening for families with children ages birth through kindergarten. Kids Fest is sponsored by the local First5 Franklin Early Childhood Council. This annual event usually takes place at KSU, but due to COVID, this year it is a virtual event.
All families need to do is complete some of the activities on the website at: https://www.first5franklinkidsfest.com/ and complete the Participation Form on the website. We have activities presented from area teachers, childcare providers, the Sunshine Center, and other organizations. There are also lots of other resources on the site to connect families with our community.
We are hosting a learning kit pick-up at SSS and Collins Lane on Saturday from 10am-12pm. Participants will be able to come choose the items they would like for their own learning kit(s) based on the age(s) of their child(ren). We have purchased some great materials from Lakeshore that we need to get into the hands of our families... that's where you come in...
https://www.first5franklinkidsfest.com/. Event link is open through end of day Friday and material pick up is Saturday
