Drill Update: We have completed our required drills for the year, but will still complete our severe weather drill next week and in the spring. Progress Reports
You are receiving your student's fall Progress Report today. This progress report is being provided to give you information about the current learner traits your child is demonstrating to start off the school year. Please review the “Key for Performance Standards” section at the top of the document before looking over your student’s learner traits. We encourage you to look over the entire document as a preview of what standards are being assessed this trimester and throughout the school year. Your child's progress towards those standards will be indicated on their first trimester report card and will be discussed with you at our parent teacher conferences.
Woodbury PPA Update
The PPA had an awesome turnout for their Woody's Donut Fundraiser. Thank you who to all who supported them! Mrs. Davis's class was the classroom winner for the donut party. Congratulations!
If you are interested in becoming a member, please feel free to join them for their monthly meetings that typically take place on the last Friday of the month. This month they will be doing their glowstick grams. Many hands make light work and they could use extra hands to help assemble them. SEL Corner with Miss Rogowski
Hello Woodbury families!
It has been so great reconnecting with returning students and getting to know our new faces in the building. In October, the district’s core value of the month is “Growth Mindset.” The district has defined growth mindset as “having a mindset that you can learn and grow through ambition, perseverance, determination, and guidance. I think this is a great topic to start the year. Part of having a growth mindset is setting goals for yourself. It can be a small goal or a big one, but make sure your goal is attainable. During our second step lessons in second and third grade, we have already had so many great discussions about how mistakes are ok because they help us learn. We have talked about different strategies to use when making a mistake; try again, keep practicing, make a small change, watch a video, ask for help, etc. I enjoy talking about the magical word, YET. Adding “yet” to our vocabulary is so important when talking about growth mindset. If you have time, feel free to watch this quick read aloud video on The Magical Yet. The power of yet teaches our students that they CAN learn, learning takes practice and effort, giving up is not an option, learning never stops, and that we can all have success when we work hard and work together.
