We miss you! Let's reconnect this week.
Spirit Week April 6-April 10
Join us for Spirit Week April 6-April 10! Be creative, have fun and reconnect with our fun Spirit Week themes! When students return to learning on Monday, April 6, we want you to know this will be a soft opening into the eLearning experience. This will be a time of adjustment to our new learning reality, and we want to ease our teachers, students and parents into this new realm with an emphasis on reconnection. The primary focus during eLearning will be clearly established during this first week, and we can sum it up in one word: connection. As a school system, we will intentionally focus on creating connections to address the social-emotional health of our students. To this end, we invite everyone to participate in eLearning Spirit Week!
- Monday: Move Over Corona (show your best dance moves)
- Tuesday: Until Tomorrow (share an old pic, new pic and describe your future self and your dream)
- Wednesday: All is Ours Day: Wonderful World (take a pic of something in nature and explain why you love it)
- Thursday: Throwback Thursday (share a favorite memory, or a memory from school this year)
- Friday: Favorite Foods Day (share favorite food, recipe, or restaurant)
Share your moments, videos and images on Seesaw and social media. Be creative, have fun and reconnect! Use the #oneAthens when you share. It's great to be a Golden Eagle!

SPARK Academy Coronavirus Update
We pray that our whole SPARK Academy family remains safe during this time and we can't wait until we are all back together! I know many of you heard the report from Governor Ivey concerning schools and the extension of the state of emergency. As a result, the governor announced students will not go back to a physical school for the remainder of the 2019-2020 school year. We know that you and your students have many questions. Dr. Holladay and his team have been working diligently to develop a plan for continued learning for ACS students.
The first week (beginning April 6) will be focused on connections. No school work will be assigned until April 13. Even then, for the remainder of the year, the school work will be focused on reinforcing the most important standards.
Time spent on devices will be minimal. Beginning April 13, we will be doing flexible “school at home.” We understand this must make sense for your family. Many parents are working from home remotely; others are serving in essential roles. We promise the plan will have built-in flexibility so that you can manage “school at home” successfully and not be overwhelmed!
We understand your child has belongings and personal items at school that you would like to pick up. Currently, all campuses are closed to the public until further notice. In the coming weeks, as the public health situation improves, we will make arrangements for parents to pick up personal belongings.
Our offices and building will be closed until further notice. If you or your family has a need, please contact a school administrator through email and we will get back with you as soon as possible. We will update information on our school website and through our SPARK Facebook and Twitter accounts.
As always, you will find all the best resources and information at the ACS Coronavirus Update Center at acs-k12.org/coronavirus.
