GSCA Lobo Weekly

Has your child ever been discouraged or frustrated because he or she could not do something on the first try? Have your kids wanted to give up when something was too hard to accomplish the first time? School tasks, athletics, learning to tie shoes or get dressed - these are all challenges for kids the first time around - or the second -- or the third! It may take MANY tries for kids to learn things, and it's easy to want to give up!.But if they give up, they don't feel the accomplishment of FINALLY succeeding! When they fear failure, they may not even try!
This year at GSCA, we are learning about Growth Mindset - the ability to face challenges, knowing that a bit of a struggle helps us learn and to grow. (Educators call it "productive struggle" -- not too hard to discourage, and not too easy that they don't learn anything new.)
We can help our kids embrace a Growth Mindset by reminding then of the Power of YET. Instead of saying "I cannot do it" -- they can say "I cannot do it...YET." That one word changes everything. It helps kids move from "giving up" to "conquering a challenge."
Thanks for entrusting your children to us at GSCA. Together, we'll help each GROW into the person God intends for then to be!
Blessings,
Mrs JoEllen Hoffmann

The Power of YET!
Bendiciones,
Sra. JoEllen Hoffmann
