The Bullpup Pride
Pine Tree Hill Elementary- 1st Nine Weeks Edition #WEAREONE
Everyday is a GREAT day to be a BULLPUP!
Principal's Message
We have successfully conquered the first nine weeks of a new school year! I am extremely proud of the hard word and dedication our students are putting forth daily. Thank you for all you do to support your child's education at our school. Together we can ensure that every child grows socially, emotionally, and academically. Since you have been unable to visit our classes to see the great things our amazing teachers are doing daily, please enjoy the video below. This video highlights our first quarter learning and you may notice a few familiar Bullpups. Thank you to Mrs. Mayo for this creation!
As we enter a new quarter, please make sure you have scheduled a conference with your child's teacher (if you haven't done so already) to discuss their current progress. This is a great time to become more informed about your student's strengths, needs, behaviors, and learning styles. Our conferences are scheduled virtually or by phone for this nine weeks. If a face to face conference is requested, we ask our school visitors to wear a mask upon entering the building. We are working hard to maintain a safe environment for everyone.
As Covid numbers are inconsistent, we would like to remind you of our requirement to quarantine due to “close contacts” (in class and even on the bus). We want to acknowledge the incredible work our entire staff is doing during this time especially our amazing Nurse Thompkins. Please be respectful and understanding when you are called in reference to student illness or close contacts. Safety is our top priority.
Have a safe and enjoyable Fall Break!
Message from our Assistant Principal
We have had a strong start to a new school year! Thank you for all that you do daily to partner with us here at Pine Tree Hill. Please continue to review our school wide "B.A.R.K" rules with your child daily: Be safe; Act responsibly; show Respect; be Kind. These rules apply both in school and on our school buses. We are relaunching our Positive Behavior Intervention and Support (PBIS) system for the 2nd nine weeks. Students will be rewarded for demonstrating these rules and will have the opportunity to participate in celebrations to reward their efforts.
Please stay tuned for more information on our B.A.R.K Bucks and Punch Cards.
Please make note of our upcoming Iowa/COGAT Assessment dates for our 2nd graders: Oct. 19, 21 and Oct. 25-27. The CogAT is a norm-referenced aptitude test, and IOWA is an achievement test. The purpose of testing is to identify students for the gifted and talented program. Our gifted and talented program is called SEAGUL, which begins in the third grade.
Please be safe during this fall break period!
Please complete this very important parent survey!

Notes from the Nurse
This week, I reviewed all 4k and 5k students' immunization records for completeness required by SC DHEC and SC state law for childcare and school age children. All children in school must have one of the following: SC Certificate of Immunization or Religious Exemption or Medical Exemption in their permanent record. DHEC 30 Day Exclusion notices were sent home with students this week if the student's record lacked the correct documentation or required shots were missing on their certificate of immunization on file at school. If you received this notice, please call your healthcare provider and obtain an updated SC DHEC Certificate of Immunization, and if necessary, make an appointment for vaccinations that were indicated as missing on your child's record. You have 30 days from the date discovered to complete this in order for your child to remain in school. If you have any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to call Nurse Thompkins at 803-425-8970. Thank you parents for taking prompt attention to this important matter. You may email Nurse Thompkins any records at kerry.thompkins@kcsdschools.net Please visit the CDC link below for the importance of childhood vaccines.
