PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE by Kayla Bell
Dear Families,
We need your help! As a team, we work really hard to communicate what is happening here at school. We send out calendar updates once a week and we send out other messages about our school events, NRCO events and other happenings every other week. This year, we even changed our format to make it easier for you to access information on your smart phones. Even with those changes and adjustments, we realize our our messages are not reaching all families. Our last Croc Talk was received by almost 700 families, yet only half of those families read the information. Beginning today, we will be sending out the Croc Talk every three weeks. Our next edition of the Crock Talk will be sent out on March 17. We are hoping that less frequent communication may encourage a greater readership. If you have other ideas for our Croc Talk or ways to communicate, please feel free to email me. Thank you.
Next month we will be sending out attendance letters to families of students who have missed 10 or more days and/or have significant tardies. Oregon law requires students to be in attendance. But more importantly, we know regular and punctual attendance is a critical factor in school success. It is the responsibility and duty of both the school and the parent/guardian to cooperate and encourage students to establish good attendance practices. Excessive absences and tardies creates a situation, which if not corrected, may result in intervention by a Washington Country Police Truancy Officer. The intention of the letters is to make families aware of both the law and the number of times a student has been absent from school. At this time, we have NO intention of sending a truancy officer to any home. Our hope is that you will understand the law, and the importance of regular and timely school attendance.
Finally, I am pleased to announce that we collected 124 new stuffed animals for Randall Children’s Hospital. Thank you for donating your spare change and for purchasing stuffed animals at Piccolo Mondo. We appreciate your support. We also want to thank Piccolo Mondo for their donation of a twenty dollar gift card. We will raffle off this gift card at our next assembly.
Have a wonderful weekend.
Kayla
