A Message from the Principal
Dear Sheridan Families,
Spring has sprung in the halls at Sheridan… despite the snow Mother Nature delivered this morning! We enjoyed a fun-filled week with the spirit dress-up days. Somehow, wearing jerseys, crazy hair, and beach wear is all it takes to put a little extra bounce in our steps (anticipating the week off helps, too!). Thanks to all who participated. We also were treated to the last round of vegetable tastings for March Nutrition Month. Ask your Shark how they liked the roasted asparagus! We hope your child expanded their palates this month. Our sincere thanks to the APT for coordinating the selections and parent volunteers.
From Your Librarian:
The Spring LF Bookstore/Sheridan Library Book Fair was as fun and successful as ever! Thank you for sending your kids in with an opportunity to buy books and for supporting our local business and Sheridan's Library!. Thank you to Elyse Butler, as always, for her support and help and to all the volunteers who gave their time to help the kids find their precious books!
March Math Madness Update:
Wow!! Congratulations to all of our Sheridan Sharks who participated in March Math Madness 2024! So many of you became stronger mathematicians by strengthening your fact fluency. Please keep all of the games and activities to play over spring break and the rest of the school year (and even in the summer). Even though all of our sharks did a great job participating, we would like to announce the March Math Madness Champion of 2024. And that team is…Hammerhead ODD!! They will be rewarded with a recess with Spark the Shark (Sheridan’s mascot) and a March Math Madness 2024 Champion sticker. Congratulations and way to go to all of our Sheridan Sharks!! ~Mrs. Erin Billock Math Specialist
We look forward to hearing about adventures from near and far when school resumes April 1st. Don’t forget, it’s a school-wide “Baseball Day”. Fingers crossed the snow will be gone! Until then, it’s time to rest and recharge. Wishing everyone a wonderful Spring Break!
Have a wonderful weekend!
Sincerely,
Susan

Spirit News and Events
Our Home & Garden team is already preparing for our upcoming H&G Tour on September 26. Last year was a huge success, and we are looking forward to another fun and exciting event this year.
Speaking of fun...
We are looking for volunteers to help make this year's Home & Garden Tour an unforgettable experience.
Volunteering for this exciting event is a great way to get involved in your school district, have some laughs, have fun, get up close and personal with a few extraordinary homes in Lake Forest, and meet some truly wonderful parents who work hard to make District 67 exceptional for our students.
Oh, and did we mention FUN?
You can give as much or as little time as you can spare. The only requirements are a positive attitude and a desire to get the job—whatever it may be—done!
So, if getting involved, having fun, and meeting wonderful people sounds like something you would enjoy, please contact Carolyn Hutchinson at carolynhutchinson@gmail.com for more information.
It shall be the mission of the Spirit of 67 Foundation to raise funds and acquire resources to provide enriching, educational and cultural experiences for the students, parents,
faculty and staff of Lake Forest School District 67 that might not otherwise be provided.
Walk Your Wheels Uptown in the Central Business District
As the weather warms up, please remember to walk e-scooters and bikes on sidewalks uptown in the Central Business District. Last year, Lake Forest City Council approved an ordinance prohibiting the use of recreational powered devices (electric scooters, electric bikes, etc.) on sidewalks in the Central Business District. Riders must dismount and walk their devices within the Central Business District boundaries to avoid a fine of up to $300 per offense.
Police officers will begin issuing citations in April, so it’s a good time to familiarize yourself with the Central Business District boundaries to avoid a fine. Learn more.
