Challenger Middle School Mission
To provide an exemplary education that develops critical thinking and problem-solving skills which inspire our students to challenge their minds and charge their spirits.
Principal's Corner
Hello Charger Families & Happy Spring!
It's difficult to believe that we've already reached Quarter 4, but it's here! We started this year strong, so we're going to finish this year strong. One way we can do this is by making attendance a priority. Please make sure your child is here every day so that they receive the most instruction and have a chance to complete all assignments. This is especially important as we approach the dates for state testing, which is approaching in both April and May. Your child has worked hard all year, so it is time for them to SHINE! Students should get a good night's rest on the nights before the tests and remember to charge their Chromebooks. It will also help if the student has a good breakfast on the day of testing. Together we can ensure that the students do their best!
We have plenty to look forward to non-academic-wise as we near the end of the school year. Our final sports are going to be in full swing and we have our 8th grade field trip as well as end-of-year celebrations to look forward to! We are thankful for all staff, students, and family members in helping to ensure these events are a success. Let's finish this school year strong!
Respectfully,
Stacia Winfree

Every Day Counts!
Missing a day of school here and there may not seem like much, but absences add up!
When a student misses 2 days a month... they end up missing 20 days a year, and will have missed over 1 year of learning by the time they graduate.

Read Across America Week & Patriot Buddy Reading
On Monday, the 4th, Challenger hosted multiple Patriot Elementary classes in both our ELA and Reading classes. Our Patriot Buddies partnered up with our 6th-8th grade students and read their favorite books with them!
March 11th - 15th, Challenger also celebrated Literacy Week with themed dress-up days, read-alouds, book-themed decorations, and lots of fun reading activities!
Class Pet of the Month
Nyota the Guinea Pig
Nyota is a Guinea Pig is a resident in Mr. Buczynski's reading classroom. She is a year and a half old, and enjoys a diet of lettuce, strawberries, tomatoes, and hay. She can usually be found enjoying some beauty sleep, and when she's well rested enough she likes to run around her cage with a case of the zoomies. Sometimes though she just likes to stare at the students of the class and make sure they get their work done. Nyota is definitely a staple here at Challenger Middle and is beloved by staff and students alike.
New Teacher Shout Out!
Ms. Bernal
Ms. Bernal is a 7th grade intensive reading teacher at Challenger Middle. Although she may be a new Charger, she is not new to teaching - as this is her 14th year as an educator! When she's not teaching she likes to read, do puzzles, go on runs, and hang out with her kids for fun and relaxation. When asked what her favorite part of teaching is, she told us that she enjoys getting to know the kids better. We are so thankful to have an amazing and experienced educator like Ms. Bernal here at Challenger Middle!
Spelling Bee Update!
If you have been keeping up with our information regarding the Spelling Bee, we had two of our amazing and brilliant students attend the Lee County District Spelling Bee last month on March 7th at Three Oaks Middle School. 7th grader Logan Creamer and 6th grader Cailyn Harvey represented Challenger against 14 other local schools in a battle against the dictionary. Our very own Logan Creamer made it all the way to 2nd place in the entire district!
While they may not be advancing to the Scripps National Spelling Bee, we are still so very proud of both Logan and Cailyn!
