We successfully wrapped up the first quarter of our school year. Yesterday, we had our first all school virtual assembly celebrating our students and honoring Veteran's Day. Each classroom joined the assembly virtually through Google Meet. We handed out PRIDE! Awards (P for Perseverance, R for Respect, I for Integrity, D for Dependable, E for Enthusiasm, ! for Character Counts: Cooperation) to six students in each class who demonstrated these character traits during Quarter 1. We will be doing this again for the remaining quarters this school year.
Don't forget that there is no school for students next week since we have our virtual parent/teacher conferences. Have you scheduled your time yet? If not, please reach out to your child's teacher.
Conferences are scheduled for:
Monday 11/22 4pm-8pm
Tuesday 11/23 8am-8pm
Thank you for partnering with us! Have a great week!
Warmest regards,
Gina McLain
Principal

Important Information
- ParentVUE Online Verification--Having accurate contact information for parents is critical for communicating school and district news, as well as attendance and emergency notifications. Please make sure you have completed this year's verification process by clicking here
- No cars allowed in the bus loop for student drop off/pick up. If you are dropping off or picking up your student please use the main drop off at the entrance of the school. The bus loop is only for buses, delivery vehicles and garbage/recycling trucks. Thank you.
- No dogs allowed on HSD school campuses during school hours. Please do not bring your dog on campus at arrival, dismissal, or during the day. Thank you. Please refer to this HSD policy for more information.
- Toys, electronic devices, trading cards, or other similar personal items should be left at home, unless they are being used as part of an approved school or classroom activity. The school does not take responsibility for these type of personal items that are damaged or stolen. We strongly encourage parents and students to make sure these items are not at school.
Volunteers: Update
We will be able to start accepting volunteers as soon as their applications are approved. There are several volunteer applications in process at this time. Once your volunteer application has been approved, if you are interested in volunteering in your child's classroom or other areas of the school, please reach out to your child's teacher or the main office to let them know you are interested. Please note that when determining volunteer schedules and opportunities we will need to adhere to our social distancing requirements and will only be able to accommodate volunteers depending on space available in classrooms and other areas of the building.
HSD Volunteer Requirements
- Complete the volunteer application on our website.
- The information you provide will be used to complete background checks through the state's criminal records system and the Oregon Department of Education's sexual misconduct database.
- Once these checks have cleared, you will receive an email asking you to complete a survey and upload proof of COVID-19 vaccination.* (*Volunteers may fill out a form requesting a medical or religious exception; however, these will only be considered on an as-needed basis as staff availability allows. Anyone receiving an approved exception will be required to follow a set of increased safety measures when volunteering.)
- In addition, all volunteers will need to submit to a fingerprint-based criminal records check by March 28, 2022, in order to continue volunteering. Until this check is completed, volunteers will not be assigned duties that could put them in a situation where they have direct, unsupervised contact with students. If the check is not completed by March 28, 2022, your volunteer status will go from “approved” to “pending” and you will no longer be allowed to volunteer.
Upon successful completion of these requirements and review of the volunteer handbook, the applicant will be approved for volunteering. All HSD volunteering information can be found here https://www.hsd.k12.or.us/Page/152
