2nd and 3rd Quarter Review: April 2015
What's been going on?
Fran and I are currently collaborating on research projects during tech specials for 1st, 2nd, and 5th grade. We are implementing the County's new recommended research process, eWISE. Check out this (really) quick introductory video I created for the students (they scanned a QR code with the iPads to watch): http://screencast-o-matic.com/watch/connoIeA9w
Other collaborations in 2nd and 3rd quarter included a QR code Jan Brett author study activity with Garrison's class, working with 3rd grade on a biography/Discovery Education Board Builder project, helping 2nd grade with their fairy tale comparison unit, and reinforcing how to do a character analysis with 4th grade students.
I know the year is wrapping up and things are quite busy, but if there is anything you'd like to work together on, please let me know!

Historical Fiction for 4th grade
Big Universe
Some of you have taken me up on scheduling a 30 minute Big Universe orientation lesson for your classes. Even if you don't know how much you may use it with in your classroom (although there are some cool functions like a fiction/non fiction comparison tool), it's a good idea to show your students because they can use it at home to create their own personalized digital libraries! Let me know if you would like one!
They can use it over the summer!!!!
New Books and Items Purchased
New Books: Some new books have been recently added from the book fair (by the way, thank you for all of your support as usual) and from school monies! I kept teacher requests and C-MAPP in mind when ordering. To take a look at all the new books we have received this year: Destiny homepage (go to the Northwoods Library icon on your desktop or to the books icon on Students link on our homepage)- Catalog tab (where you go to look for books)- "Resource Lists" (on the left)- Public Lists tab (on the right)- Scroll down and click on "New Books 2014-2015."
Other Items: 5 sets of speakers and a roll of postermaker paper
Mailbox Magazine Discontinued
Some of you requested that I keep subscribing to Mailbox magazine. However, it is no longer available in print and it is not possible to purchase a subscription for the whole school. However, if you go to their website, http://www.theeducationcenter.com/register (use Firefox, not Internet Explorer), you can sign up for free resources.
