Jarrell ISD Monday Memo
February 26, 2024
Hello Cougars,
Spring is around the corner and we want to take a moment to celebrate the progress and success across the district.
In academics, students have made gains at every grade level. Test scores for reading and math have grown by more than 20% at our elementary schools. At high school, more than 250 students earned an industry-based certification (IBC) through our Career and Technical Education courses. Students who graduate with an IBC are ready to enter the workforce.
Our fine arts students have won awards and received statewide recognitions and accolades for their work in choir, theater, and band. Two of our students advanced to State in choir this past week. Fine arts are critical to a child's development. Through the arts, students embark on a journey of self-discovery.
Last week, a local sportscaster reported that Jarrell ISD is one of eighteen school districts across the region that have gone to the playoffs in football and boys and girls basketball. We also celebrate our teams making the playoffs in volleyball and cross country.
The boy's basketball team are the Bi-District Champions, and they played in an Area competition on Friday. The outcome wasn't what we hoped, but the team poured their heart and soul into the game. We also have students competing in Regionals for Powerlifting. On Saturday, the high school dance team competed at State and had near perfect scores. The team won a Division 1 rating with a 93/100 total and placed 2nd!
Academic, Fine Arts and Athletic achievements are a cornerstone of success beyond grades and test scores. It shapes students' intellectual growth, character development, and future opportunities.
None of this is possible without our teachers, staff, and parents. Every teacher and staff member is committed to helping our students be successful with unwavering dedication. We are grateful to our educators who pour their hearts into supporting our students. We are also grateful to our parents for the involvement, encouragement, and active participation that has a profound impact on student success. As our enrollment grows to nearly 4,000 students, we'll see more children unlock their full potential, pursue their dreams, and positively impact the world. That's the Jarrell Way.
