Math
Thursday, the students will solve area word problems. Friday, we'll decompose large rectangles into 2 smaller ones to find the entire area.
Reading
Tuesday, we will read a passage, identify the main idea of the entire passage, and choose supporting details that match with the main idea of each paragraph. Thursday, the students will be taking their Main Idea & Details Post-Test. Friday, we will begin a new unit on Fables. After reading "The Fox & the Crow", we'll pinpoint the moral, summarize the important events, answer questions using evidence from the text, and use context clues to determine the meaning of unfamiliar words.
Writing & Spelling
Tuesday, the students will work with a partner to help them add descriptive details and examples to their persuasive writing piece. Thursday & Friday, they'll be introduced to and try out different types of hooks that they can use to grab their reader's attention in their Introduction.
Our Spelling words this week contain "aw" or "o". Our lessons will focus on analogies & antonyms.
Social Studies
Tuesday, the students will continue to take notes for their diary or journal entry. Thursday & Friday, the students will compose a diary entry written from the viewpoint of Thomas Jefferson, Meriwether Lewis, William Clark, or Sacagawea.
