Student-Led Conferences (SLCs) - March 20-22
Save the dates! Student-Led Conferences (SLCs) will be held between March 20-22. As part of the Met's vision of personalized learning and family engagement, we host Student-Led Conferences (SLC) twice a year at the midpoint of each semester. Our Spring 2024 SLCs take place on March 20, 21, 22, which coincides with the release of student Progress Reports.
SLCs and Progress Reports are a very important opportunity for students to lead a conversation about their goals and growth (both academic and personal), and for parents to assess their students’ success and partner with teachers on support strategies where needed, with ample time for improvement before final grades are issued at the end of the semester. These conversations are a crucial part of how we support student learning and connect with families. As such, every student is expected to have at least one parent, guardian, or other close family member in attendance at their SLC.
Advisors are supporting their students on SLC preparations, and will be reaching out to families to schedule a specific date and time for their SLC. If you will require interpreting services in Spanish, please let your student’s advisor know, and we will make arrangements to support you. If you have other language needs, please let your student’s advisor know, and we will do our best to accommodate.
Because of the importance of SLCs, we are having a modified schedule that week to allow more time during the day for families to attend. Please note the following class schedule for those three days:
Wednesday, 3/20 - Classes from 8:30am to 12:30pm. SLCs may be scheduled from 12:30pm onward.
Thursday, 3/21 - Students are expected to continue attending internships. SLCs may be scheduled outside of the student’s internship time.
Friday, 3/22 - Classes from 8:30am to 12:30pm. SLCs may be scheduled from 12:30pm onward.
We look forward to having you join us for your students' SLCs!
Met Up on Friday, March 15
This day is dedicated to the Met Community and well being! Our goal is to center self care through two components. The first is a school wide presentation, covering resources, best practices, and work being done to address Mental Health by our school. The 2nd component is co-led workshops between students and staff in a way that allows students to authentically take care of themselves.
Dismissal on Friday, 3/15 will be at 2 pm.

Youth 14 and up are welcome. (Don't forget this is a time change weekend!)
Senior Class Fundraising!
Thank you for supporting our Class of 2024 Senior Fundraising efforts! Bunco, See's Candy and Pilates events have helped a great deal. We are getting closer and closer to our goal of $5000. These funds will go toward supporting our seniors in activities including prom, Grad Night, and senior breakfast, and help every senior be able to celebrate their final year of high school!
Be sure to attend the above-mentioned performance of "And Then There Were None" as the proceeds will be benefitting the class of 2024.
SCHOOLWIDE NEWS
Pickleball!
Thanks to our SD Met Foundation for supporting our school with the purchase of pickleball supplies! This has allowed us to offer a fun and healthy way for students to get some exercise and build community. Pickleball is available for all students on Fridays at lunch and after school. This is another example of how our Foundation uses YOUR donations to make a positive impact on the lives of our students.
California School Parent Survey (CSPS)
CA School Parent Survey - Please complete by Fri, Mar. 29!
Each year, parents and guardians are asked to participate in the California School Parent Survey, as part of our district’s work toward supporting social-emotional learning and mental health in our school community. Your participation is an important part of how we gather data that can inform our school practices to improve the educational experience of every student. Please click on this link to take the survey. The survey closes on Fri, March 29. Thank you for your support!
CA Healthy Kids Survey - Mon, Mar. 18
Each year, as a companion to the California School Parent Survey, the California Healthy Kids Survey (CHKS) is administered to all 9th and 11th grade students. This is an important tool for gathering data about school climate and student well-being. The data is anonymous, and is used to help make decisions about supporting a positive school climate for all students. This year, 9th and 11th graders at the Met are scheduled to take the CHKS on Mon, March 18 in Advisory. Please support our efforts by ensuring that your student arrives at school on time on March 18 for the survey. Thank you!

Please click here for a letter to parents/guardians with relevant information and links.
