SHADY GROVE MATTERS WEEKLY UPDATE
April 21, 2024
THE ADMINISTRATOR'S CORNER
Greetings Shady Grove Families! A reminder that tomorrow, Monday 4/22/24 is an Asynchronous Lesson learning day for students to make up for one of the inclement weather school closures earlier this year. There is NO in-person school and students are expected to complete assignment(s) for classes at home. All teachers reviewed the logistics of how and what students should complete on Monday, 4/22/24 while at home. In Homeroom this week, students will view a Stop Hate Video that was produced by MCPS high school students, participate in a lesson about developing empathy, and continue celebrating Arab-American Heritage Month by learning about the history, culture, and contributions. We will also celebrate our students that made honor roll and earned straight As, we are so proud of your hard work! Good news! SGMS has been approved for installation of solar panels! The mobilization and pre-construction for the solar panels will begin on Monday 4/22/24. Beginning Monday, you will see a crane/forklift and delivery trucks on premises to begin loading materials on the rooftop. We have been working with MCPS construction liaisons and have been ensured that all safety measures will be followed throughout the project. They will also do their best to minimize “noisy” construction work outside of school hours and especially during upcoming testing windows and school community events such as the play May 31-June 1. Normal construction hours will typically be 6:30am-3:30pm M-F and the solar construction project is scheduled to conclude in July. That is all for now #TimberwolfNation! Wishing you all a fabulous week!
~Ms. Cooper
