History of Paul Cuffee
Paul Cuffee was born in 1759 and died on 1817. He was the 7th of 10 children, Paul Cuffees real last name was Kofi, and when he was older he wanted to change his last name to his fathers real last name and he changed the spelling on it to, it was suppose to be cuffe, but Paul made it to where there was two E's instead of one. When he was 8 his parents bought 116 acres of farm land.
About Paul Cuffee
Paul Cuffee married a Native American women named Alice Pequit they had 7 children, Paul tough him self how to read and write. He wanted his children to go to school and get a good education. But his kids were African American and they couldn't get into a school. He was a Quaker businessman,a sea captain,a patriot, and Abolitionist.
What Did He Do?
Paul Cuffee got into trading just like his father, After a couple years of trading during the revolutionary war, his ship got attacked by the British and he became a prisoner of the British and was imprisoned in New York.

Paul Cuffee was remember by getting a school named by him, and as you can see in the picture they have a basketball team named after him too.
Paul Cuffee helped kids get a education and start a way for black kids and white kids to be in the same school together
