Steps to Success
English Language Arts (ELA) is one of the core subjects studied across all grade levels. students will build important reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills. They will think, talk, and write about what they read in a variety of articles, books, and other texts. In their writing, students will pay more attention to organizing information, developing ideas, and supporting these ideas with facts, details, and reasons.
In a recent third-grade classroom students were learning the ELA Steps to Success by
Answering comprehension questions
Completing spelling activities
Finishing vocabulary sentences
Please review the curriculum guides to learn more about ELA in third-grade

Appropriate Masks
One of the most important mitigation strategies is a good mask that fits properly. This CDC graphic provides information on the proper type and way to wear a mask. Please be sure that the mask covers the nose and mouth, is 2-3 layers, and does not have valves. Gaiters are not approved face coverings. If your child does not have a proper mask, they will be provided one for the day.

Test to Stay - Update
If your child is identified as a close contact at school, they may be eligible for the Test to Stay option instead of quarantining for 10 days at home. Please complete the permission form in Unified Classroom indicating that you give the district permission to administer the BinaxNOW test. You do not need to sign up for weekly PCR testing to be included in the Test to Stay option, but we highly recommend it.
To sign your child up for free weekly testing, please review the COVID news updates for more information. If it is your first time signing up, families need to sign up by Sunday at 6 p.m. if you want your child to begin testing that week. You only need to sign your child up once to be included in weekly testing for the school year.
