GREENE SCHOOL SPOTLIGHT OF THE WEEK!
Thank You PTO and Mrs. Carlton!
Presenting Mr. Stuart Gibbs!
Our students learned so many interesting facts and information from Stuart Gibbs during his presentations--about writing, becoming an author, and LIFE! At one point in the presentation, Mr. Gibbs displayed a picture of a survey he filled out in second grade completing the sentence, When I grow up I want to be... Mr. Gibbs wrote in his own response of author since it wasn't one of the four choices.
Over the last two days, Greene students participated in presentations from Mr. Gibbs, having personal books signed, eating lunch with Mr. Gibbs, and engaging in creative writing opportunities with Mr. Gibbs.
The lessons learned from Mr. Gibbs will not be forgotten! Thank you so much to Mrs. Carlton for all of your organization and work to make this experience such a success. Thank you to our PTO for contributing to make the Stuart Gibbs Author Visit possible for our students!

KEY INFORMATION
Rising 6th Grade Students
Advanced Art Information & Application Process
Advanced Art is a program for visual arts students who demonstrate an extraordinary interest in the development of their skills and creativity. This is an additional art class that meets once a week during the specials bell. In contrast to the general art class, students in Advanced Art are challenged beyond the standard curriculum with exposure to more mediums in a smaller group setting. Advanced Art can be taken in conjunction with a music choice if the child’s individual schedule allows, but will replace Multimedia Explorations.
Because of tremendous interest in the course, and limited space available, we are required to have an audition process. Current 5th-grade Advanced Art students must reapply for 6th-grade placement. Please have your child fill out Advanced Art Application Form and supply the accompanying drawing to be considered for the class.
Greene School Lost and Found
This Week's Lost and Found Items
With the warmer weather this week our lost and found has gained a number of sweatshirts, jackets, coats, gloves and hats! Please check out the Greene School Lost and Found slideshow to see if your child is missing any items. This is updated weekly in hopes that lost items find their homes!
6th to 7th Grade Transition Information
As we are beginning the second semester, please be on the lookout for emails from Sycamore Junior High regarding your student's transition to 7th grade. Upcoming events, timelines, scheduling, and more will be communicated to families via email. Do not hesitate to reach out to EH Greene or Sycamore Junior High with questions.
News from the Junior High Counselors
Student course verification sheets will be uploaded to My eBackpack this Friday evening, March 15th. The Verification Sheet is a simple list of the courses planned for next school year; actual schedules will be built over the summer. Please take a moment to review your child’s course selections. If any changes need to be made, please contact your child’s Junior High counselor.
In addition, any Course Adjustment Request (CAR) forms are due no later than April 5th. These forms only apply to Honors level courses. If you want to change from an Honors course to a traditional course or change an elective course, no form is needed and you can email that request to your child’s counselor. If needed, the form can be found here, and is also available on the District website: Junior High → Counseling → Course Adjustment

Greene Walking Program
Tuesday, April 2nd through Thursday, May 16th
The PTO is excited to bring back the Greene Walking Program this spring. The program is a great opportunity for students to get exercise, burn off energy during recess, and even earn great prizes at the same time. The program will be available every Tuesday and Thursday during recess, starting the week after Spring Break.
There is no obligation to walk each week, but parent volunteers will keep track of the laps students walk each time and at the end of the program, the top 10 walkers with the greatest number of laps walked will receive a gift card to Dairy Queen.
Parents, if you would like to volunteer during the Greene School Walking Program on Tuesdays and Thursdays during recess, please sign up below.
