Huggins Highlights
Staff, if you are interested in writing a grant for something innovative you would like to do on campus, the next Klein Education Foundation grant writing workshop will be held at the CO board room on Thursday, 9/19 from 4-6pm. Last year, Ms. Lammers and her Passion Project team was awarded over $6000 from KEF...so dream big! Register in eduphoria to get credit!
Also, don't forget that the second progress report is just around the corner...next Friday, September 27th is the last day for PR2 grades. Please remember that for any student participating in UIL events, the second progress report determines eligibility! Meaning students failing one or more classes will be ineligible for competitions.
Parents, just a reminder the district will provide you access to the Schoology Parent Portal for your student(s) beginning today, Monday, September 16, 2019. If you do not receive an email, please contact schoology@kleinisd.net.
If you used Schoology last year, your account information will remain the same. This portal will give you access into your student(s) classes, assignments, and school/class announcements. Also, remember that this is NOT the official gradebook so please continue to use Skyward Family Access to view your student's grades. Training modules are available at kisd.us/ParentSchoology. If you need assistance, please email schoology@kleinisd.net between the hours of 8am and 4pm.
The GT referral window is now open until September 27. Parents, please complete the information found here if you would like your student tested.
A note from our PTO
COFFEE & KOLACHES: Please be sure to join us for breakfast at our Coffee & Kolaches event on Wednesday, September 18th at 9:15 a.m. in the Kleb Cafeteria to learn more about Kleb PTO membership, benefits, volunteers and hospitality. Kleb PTO leadership and Principal Huggins are looking forward to seeing you there!
If you can’t make it to our Coffee & Kolaches event, you can receive additional information by following us on Facebook at Kleb PTO and on Remind @klebpt (text to 81010), as well as our website https://sites.google.com/site/klebinpto.
SKATE NIGHT: Students are invited to celebrate our first Spirit Night at Skate Champions Skating Rink on Friday, September 20th from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Tickets are $8.00 per skater and includes roller skate rental. Skate Champions is located at 5504 Fellowship Lane, Spring, TX 77379. Encourage your students to wear their Kleb Spirit wear! Go Bearcubs!
MEMBERSHIP: Our membership drive is under way! We hope you will all join PTO – your membership dues and donations go to support the student incentives, teacher gifts, and other giving projects we provide for the school and this is our ONLY fundraiser aside from memory book sales. You can print the form (https://drive.google.com/file/d/1OURRmcTxgTUSvAOgYm4GmM7YPUgppVT6/view?usp=sharing) and send it in the front office with your student with payment, or forms and envelopes are available to fill out there. Family memberships are only $10 -- $1 per month of the school year! You’ll see on the form that there are additional donor levels, and this is just an easy way for you to support our goals (please remember to ask your company if they will match donations, too!) NEW this year: you may also choose to purchase a PTO t-shirt for $10! This is not required for volunteering, but is a great way to let students and staff see our presence in the halls.
VOLUNTEERS: Finally, CALLING ALL VOLUNTEERS! If you have not seen the announcement, ALL volunteers in the district must now submit a background check and be renewed as an approved volunteer EACH YEAR. If you have not submitted a new request since August 1, please do that now so you can receive volunteer opportunities from us. You can fill the form out at https://kapo.kleinisd.net/VolunteerForm/.
Kleb Teacher of the Week--Christy Stewart--ELA Teacher
I nominate Christy Stewart for Teacher of the Week because she is passionate about her students and doing what they need to succeed. Ms. Stewart will come in early, stay late, call while she's driving, text from home, whatever it takes to help one of her kiddos. She is kind and understanding to them, but she still sets high expectations, and expects her students to rise to them. She holds them accountable for their work and their actions, not despite her great love for them, but rather because of it. Ms. Stewart holds a hand when it's needed, wipes tears, listens to troubles, and always has the right inspirational quote to fit the moment. She is a model of a lifelong learner, and is always looking for strategies and techniques to meet her students where they are, and get them where they need to be. Her students are very lucky to have her, as are we.
