Dodging Hunger
November 22nd, HGMS will host our 7th annual Dodging Hunger Dodgeball Tournament that benefits the San Antonio Food Bank.
Parents are welcome to attend or form a team! Students will play during 6th, 7th, or 8th period. The past few years we have had a few parent teams participate.
Garcia Middle School community has provided the San Antonio Food Bank with monetary or food donations that equate to the following pounds of food:
2013: 8,420 pounds of food
2014: 10,935 pounds of food
2015: 20, 179 pounds of food
2016: 41, 647 pounds of food
2017: 44, 025 pounds of food
2018: 44, 498 pounds of food
It's our goal to surpass the previous years amount!
We need some parent volunteers to help sell wrist bands for the event. If you are interested in assisting, please see the link below:
Kendra Scott Spirit Night- Mark Your Calendar
Stop by the Kendra Scott in La Cantera on December 3 from 6:00-8:00 pm! A portion of the proceeds will go back to our PTA.
Remember to tell them you are from Garcia Middle School.
Recycle Challenge
With the new six weeks we are going to start a NEW recycling challenge at Garcia!
We challenge each grade level to bring in 100 bags of recycling every week.
If 6th grade can bring in 100 bags of recycling on Thursdays, then the following Monday all of 6th grade will be allowed to use devices during lunch. It means the whole grade level has to work together to bring in 100 bags each week.
Same for 7th grade! If 7th grade can bring in 100 bags of recycling, then the following Monday devices will be allowed during lunch!
8th grade, if they can bring in 100 bags each week, then they can wear shorts or pj’s the following Monday!
Remember, only #1 & #2 plastics & aluminum cans. No alcoholic cans please! (We still are getting a few.)
Every bag MUST be labeled with the Grade Level! Let’s see can each grade level bring in 100 bags next week?
