Computer Science Education Week
Are you ready? Computer Science Education Week is almost here!
#CSEdWeek, happening December 15-19, is an event dedicated to inspiring K-12 students to take interest in computer science. It is held annually in recognition of the birthday of computing pioneer Admiral Grace Murray Hopper. Code.org organizes #CSEdWeek as a grassroots campaign and is supported by 350 partners and 100,000 educators worldwide!
What opportunities will you provide your students during #CSEdWeek this year? Will you participate in the Hour of Code, learn about careers in tech, watch one of Code.org's many inspiring and explanatory videos, use one of the awesome #SeesawCoders resources, or borrow equipment from our very own CfTE Technology Exchange and expose your students to new ways of thinking and doing?
Whatever you decide, we hope your students have a blast!
Hour of Code
The Hour of Code started in 2013 as a one-hour introduction to computer science, designed to demystify "code", to show that anybody can learn the basics, and to broaden participation in the field of computer science. It has since become a worldwide effort to celebrate computer science, starting with one-hour coding activities but expanding to all sorts of community efforts! The Hour of Code traditionally takes place each year during Computer Science Education Week, but you can host an Hour of Code all year-round!
To find all of Code.org's free Hour of Code activities, visit code.org/learn. Remember to print certificates for your students when they've completed their first hour! Happy coding!
