Cares Closet
Accidents and spills are a part of childhood, and we want to ensure our students are always comfortable and cared for. To assist them in such situations, we're reaching out to our supportive community for donations of lightly used clothing for boys and girls in sizes 3-10.
If you're going through your child's closet and find a few items (3-5) that are no longer needed but still in good condition, we would be incredibly grateful for your contribution.
Your generosity will make a real difference in ensuring that every child can continue their day with confidence and comfort. Thank you for considering this opportunity to support our students!
You can put the items in your child's backpack or drop them off at the front office.
Thank you for your kindness and support!
Views From the Classroom
The students in Ms. Stearns's second grade class read the book "If I Build a House" by Chris Van Dusen as they are learning about 3 dimensional shapes in math. After math one afternoon, the students constructed 3D shapes and made "houses".

Ms. Katrina, Woodland's Russian/Ukrainian translator, read a Ukrainian-English animal story, Who Lives in the Wood by Chatty Parrot to the students in Mrs. Schindel's Kindergarten class. We love showcasing the talents of our staff (Ms. Katrina speaks 5 languages!) as well as the various cultures in our classroom, school and district. Thank you for sharing with us Ms. Katrina!
Counselor's Corner
This unit in SEL (Social Emotional Learning), Mrs. Murray and Mrs. Crawford are working on self-regulation and "calm down" or coping strategies, continuing to build empathy skills, and soon will be beginning problem solving!
Kindergarten, 1st and 2nd grade students are wrapping up with the Emotional Regulation unit and beginning to be super Problem Solvers. PreK students have spent a lot of time learning to identify and demonstrate different emotions this year and they are just starting to learn about calming down big feelings. Ask them to show you sad, happy, scared, angry, surprised, or frustrated and you will see just how much they have learned! If you have an older student(s), you can try to quiz them and see if they know the 3 calm down steps – STOP, Name your Feeling, Calm Down!
In the upcoming Problem-Solving unit, students will be learning or reviewing the steps to solve a problem – Say the Problem, Think of Solutions, Explore Consequences, and Pick the Best Solution. (S T E P!) Woodland students love the songs that go along with these units and steps.
