Happy Friday Nighthawks!
Happy Friday Nighthawks,
This week we wrapped up AP testing, continued with CAASPP testing, and continued to recognize Jewish American and Asian Pacific Islander Heritage Month, and Mental Health Awareness.
Our Spring Sports teams deserve recognition for their outstanding seasons! Congratulations to the following teams for earning an opportunity to participate in the CIF playoffs. We are extremely proud of how far they've made it.
Softball
Baseball
Lacrosse - Boys and Girls
Swim - Boys and Girls
Tennis - Boys
A special shoutout to Boys Volleyball for making it to the state semifinal playoffs. Be on the lookout for updates on our Track and Gymnastics teams as they compete this weekend in the CIF Section playoffs. Our music program has its final performances this weekend. It’s been another great season of our Nighthawks showing off their passions. We appreciate the community's continued support of Nighthawk Nation.
The next two weeks we will make our final push to the end of the school year as students prepare for final exams and projects. Let’s continue to work together to support our entire community.

Hey Nighthawk Families!
We’re super excited to announce the release of our 2023 DNHS Battle of The Fans promotional video. Battle of The Fans is a CIF-hosted competition between the high schools of San Diego, where we showcase our Nighthawk spirit via sporting events, pep rallies, and the Nighthawk experience. We’d love for you to check out our submission at @kusisports. CLICK HERE TO VOTE!! Winners are decided by the number of likes, so we’d appreciate it if you could spread the word to your family and friends. Check out the video below! Thank you for helping Del Norte showcase our Nighthawk Pride. Lets go Nighthawks!

Ever wonder what's going on in the Library?
Nighthawk Tutoring and Office Hours
Now that Trimester 3 is in the books, let's not miss the opportunities to use Nighthawk Tutoring and Office Hours to help students achieve their academic goals. Thanks to our Education Foundation, whose mission is to impact every student everyday, we are able to offer free tutoring to our students. Nighthawk Tutoring takes place on Monday and Wednesday evenings from 6:15 to 8:15pm in the DNHS Library. DNHS teachers support this program by offering their time to help students with Math, Science, English, Social Science and other subjects during the year. This free service will run through June. This is another Distinctively Del Norte program that we have built in to help support our students.
Aside from Nighthawk Tutoring, Del Norte offers other programs to support all students with any Academic subject they may need extra help with.
DNHS Peer Counselors offer academic tutoring. Please see Ms. Castro in the Student Support Services office in G118 for more information.
Our WHAT center provides writing support. Please see Mrs. Philyaw in G117 for more information.
Getting Nighthawks to the Nest on Time
Electric Bikes/Scooters
Managing the Nest
We cannot accept items to be picked up, or delivered to students during the instructional day in the front office. Please ensure that your Nighthawk has their lunch, phone, homework, clothing, athletic equipment, computer/chromebook, books, etc. that they need for school before dropping them off.
We ask that you partner with us to continually have conversations with your students about standing and doing the right thing. Our expectation at DNHS is that students work each day to be the best versions of themselves and help us keep the Nest safe. Please encourage your student(s) to let adults in our space know if they see something happening on campus that could endanger others. We want to keep DNHS a safe space that is free of drugs, vaping, alcohol and weapons, so that our students can focus on their academic and social emotional development. We appreciate the home-school partnership with our community.
Building Nighthawk Culture/Spirit
Part of the positive experience of high school is being involved and engaged in the learning community. As a learning community we want our Nighthawks to wear Blue and Green on Friday’s, to attend our sporting events and performances that are held throughout the year, as well as get involved in clubs and activities that interest them. . We want to partner with you and hope that you can encourage your Nighthawk to be involved and engaged in their Nighthawk Experience.
As parents and guardians you are members of the Nighthawk Nation! We hope that you will get involved in our various adult organizations, PTSA, Del Norte Education Foundation, Athletic Foundation, Music Foundation and other various booster groups that exist to help our faculty and staff provide a world class high school experience for your student(s).
